Model Reviewed: Hippo Giant 9*

This was my second driver moving from a wooden headed 190cc Ping eye2 to this 400cc monster I thought I couldn’t go wrong. To ping felt lovely really nicely weighted and it sat beautifully behind the ball but it offered nearly no forgiveness on my many mistimed lunges. The hippo seamed like it should be the answer to all my problems. Of coarse it wasn’t the giant head titanium head on a 46 inch graphite shaft just compounded my over swing. I’m quite short 5'9 or so and the 46 inch shaft never felt cumftable the heads so light that you dont know were it is during the back swing and there are no alignment aids on the crown. When I did set up corectly and swing smoothly and and rhythmically it worked a treat. on one or two occasions I court the ball really flush and the distances I achieved were well in advance of anything I’ve had before or since thirty or forty yards longer. I feel that for some one taller who doesn’t suffer from a serious over swing this could be a great club. The one fault which lies firmly with the club is its awful grip
