Oh. Wow.

I'm a fairly casual golfer, and like a lot of folks I'm transitioning from other types of athletics - in other words; strong and coordinated, but not skilled. This has translated to being able to hit the ball a fairly long way, but without much of a directional sense. FORE!

I've used a TaylorMade r580 XD for about 6 years now and resigned myself to long wayward drives. I never believed that a piece of equipment was going to fix my crappy results. And I'm thrilled to say that I was wrong!

I purchased a Cobra ZL Encore 8.5 loft driver off craigslist a few days ago. I didn't know it was 8.5 until literally the money had exchanged hands. After reading up on 8.5's I started to sweat. I didn't think I'd be able to hit the thing at all. Wrong.

This club hits dead straight. I just hit a bucket of 60 balls and split them evenly between the two drivers. The r580 gave me what it always does. 250ish, left/right/middle. On most fairways I'd have lost 6 or 7 of the 30. And only about that amount was dead straight. The Cobra gave me closer to 280, with about 5 balls making it to the woods at 300. Only about 3 would have been unfindable and at least 10, probably closer to 15, were right down the line.

I'm glowing. Find a deal on a used one and learn now to SMILE on the tee box!

I am very impressed with this club. My previous Cobras are the 380 SS and FSpeed. I was hitting my F Speed really well and my golfing buddy got the TM Rocket so I decided to go back to Cobra. I got the Black with 9.5* and R shaft. After 3 rounds I'm hitting the ball farther and straighter then with my Callaway RAZR, Mizuno 700, Adams Speed 10, TM R 11
