Very solid club.

I used to use a Callaway FT-3, but the ballflight was way to unpredictable, high slice, snap hook, I just needed a little more forgiveness.

Fitted with a Graffaloy Prolaunch, It is a good combo. I may upgrade to a YS-7+ for a little moore control.

I hit a highstraight/fade with it about 240-255. And I like the look of it at address

Model Reviewed: Cobra X-Speed Pro S

I attended a Cobra Demo day and was impressed with the new line of Speed Pro drivers and fairway woods. My previous belief was that Cobra was more geared towards the senior player but it seems Cobra has changed their image to be a solid alternative to a wider variety (level) of player, at least in my eyes.

I hit both Speed Pro Models (Deep & Shallow) and had better launch mointor data with the shallow. Their launch monitor (Cobra) was accurate as I also had my own launch monitor (Zelocity) to compare data. I also preferred the profile of the shallow at address.

I purchased a Cobra Speed Pro Shallow 9.5 with stock Fujikura shaft. I am very happy with the performance as my "misses" are very acceptable. When hit pure, this combo is just as long as any other driver I have used. With all previous 460cc drivers, I felt I sacraficed distance for forgiveness as I was also longer with smaller driver heads but found more fairways with 460cc heads. I believe the Cobra Speed Pro Shallow gives you the best of both worlds (distance and accuracy).

A middle of the pack price point of $399 makes this stick great bang for the buck. A 4/5 rating for me since I still believe thats alot of "doh rae me" for a single club.

A definite keeper in the bag for now.

Model Reviewed: Cobra X-Speed 9.5 Stiff Flex

I swapped to the cobra x-speed 9.5 degree stiff flex from a cleveland launcher 10 degree with a stiff flex.
I used to hit the launcher about 220metres on the fly (pretty good for a 15 year old.) but i didnt have the consistency to hit it straight %100 of the time, so i swapped to the cobra which i demoed from my local pro for a couple of rounds and i now hit straight pretty much %100 of the time. I have a very slight draw with the X-speed which i dont mind, And now i drive about 240-250metres on the fly and i get a hell of alot more roll with the cobra than the cleveland.
I demoed F-speed with a reg flex 50 gram shaft i hit the F-speed a bit further about 10-15meters but the shaft on the F-speed was 10 grams lighter than the X-speed, and i was swinging much to fast for the F-speed and i had no control. Amazing what 10 grams can do.
I think the X-speed is one of the best drivers on the market at the moment, but i think the face is a bit to big and slows your swing up.

Model Reviewed: Cobra X-Speed 10.5* Driver

This is a BOOMER..First let me say I love buying drivers and tinkering with different shaft combinations so after being a devote Taylormade man the last few years since the introduction of the r7 Quad to the r7 425 and then the r7 460 and stops with a Ping G5, Cleveland Launcher and Launcher Comp, Titleist 983K...etc I think you get the picture, I bought a Cobra X-speed with a stock shaft off ebay and after a couple of times at the driving range knew the stock shaft had to go. I put a GD YS-7 shaft on it and I was lucky I found the perfect combition on the first try. What others have said is true, it does have a closed face and when I missed it is 95% left even before this driver so it took a little adjusting to compensate for this. I have gained distance and that is not an estimation as my playing partner and I hit the ball the same distance off the tee but I have gained on an average of 15 yds with this combination.

I want to say that no matter what driver or for that matter what clubs you buy the shaft is so important so experiment a little with different shafts. They can be purchased on ebay for a fraction of the cost in a pro shop and with a little practice you can do all the changing yourself. This makes the game even more fun and satisfying when you improve.

Customer Service

Never have used it...but their customer service department has always been helpful when I call for advice.

Model Reviewed: Cobra XX Speed driver 8.5 deg.

A fairly long club w/the Fuji VistaPro 60 46"shaft. About same as Ping Rapture but not as accurate. I still can't believe that Cobra advertizes a square face for this club but it actually sets up 1.5 to 2 degrees closed. Not for anyone who draws the ball anyway. I bet the Cobra LD team has the impossible to buy "square face"model not available to the public. A 3 because not as advertised.

Customer Service

If they're gonna sell a driver with a hook face, then they should advertize as such. I won't buy one of their new ones after this experience.

Switched from a TM R5 TP. Just didn't like the club. Only had the TM for a few weeks and bought it on the strength of recently purchased TP forged irons (which are superb).

Not sure if it the Cobra was a good choice. I was going to buy a Ping G5, but the salesman in the shop talked me into trying it...

This club is very long an has amazing carry. Most reviews on this website talk of 300+ yrd drives. (Absolute rubbish, if you were that good consistiently you wouldn't be working a 9-5 job)

However, this must be the longest club on the market right now.

Personally for me, it lacks feel, is very light and not very accurate.

However, it you want to tee it high and boom it, this may have been the one you have been waiting for....

I will give it another couple of rounds before making a final judgement

PS. Thre new YS shaft is excellent

Got this driver, because I was looking for a stock driver to replace my TaylorMade 540XD. The Taylor made was a great club, but the shaft was so wippy, I found that unless everything was perfect, the ball would fly way too high. I got the X speed, because I liked my old Cobra GravityBack driver. I got the 8.5 degree model, and would not recommend that loft or the NV-X shaft for anyone with less than 115mph swing speed.

That said, when you catch one, this is the best driver you will ever hit. Has a Boring, but high ball flight. I was hiting my TaylorMade 290 consistently, and have added 15 yards with this guy. Mostly roll, I think. Because of the square face, you can also mess with your set-up and hit fades and draws fairly easily. My best drive with this was yesterday (in about my 20th round with the club) where I put it on the 11th green at my club that is 400 yards. (Had a wind, but still...).

Would warn that if you swing hard, this club doesn't have near the forgiveness of Taylor Made or Cleveland Drivers I've played. It is longer, but tougher to play.

Easy club to get moving, more forgiving than I thought it worked my fade/slice into a slight draw. It's the first 460cc driver I hit it looks a little bit like a watermelon on a stick, but it's a keeper. I'll be playing this driver for a while.

Model Reviewed: King Cobra 460 F/Speed

I have been playing the Adams Redline Dual for the last 6 months and even though I had some success with it, I was not really getting consistent results. I decided to try the Ping G5, Tour Edge Exotics and the Cobra on the range. I ruled the Exotics out right away, didn't sit well at address, kept hooking and couldn't get the advertised distance. Both the G5 and the Cobra had the same consitency for straight shots but the Cobra was WAY LONGER!! It was a warm day and it seemed like I could get 275 yards on the G5 and about 295 on the Cobra. I also preferred the ball flight on the Cobra. I am very close to locking down on a driver. I still want to try the Cleveland HIBORE. My plan is to take the HIBORE, G5 and Cobra on the course and then pick up one of them. Right now I am really impressed by the Cobra. I felt like I could really swing this club freely and that the sound feedback reinforces confidence in striking the ball.
