10.5* 440 SZ Stiff
all i can say is WOW. This thing is a cannon. my mis-hits have only a slight fade and still sounds like i got all of it (flies like it too) i've heard people compain about the noise, but its really not loud and actually feels satisfying. i have a medium swing speed but i felt like i could get better control with the larger head. the most satisfying feeling is when it hits right in the sweet zone (the whole face is hot with .830 COR but down the middle is great). would reccomend to anyone seeking forgiveness, distance and WOW's from people on the course. I might change the shaft because i heard some people say it makes it better. got mine for $230 on EBAY still in plastic. Great Buy! King Cobra 440SZ 9* loft, stiff shaft
First of all, let me say I'm a complete neophyte to golf. I enjoy going to the range and demo'ing different brands and models of equipment, and over the last 2 years have tried out a ton of different drivers. In comparing this driver with its current competitors like the TaylorMade R580XD, Nike Ignite 460cc, Cleveland Launcher 460, and the Callaway GBB II, I have to say that for a beginner, the Cobra 440SZ was one of the longest and most forgiving of the bunch. I demo'ed a 10.5* regular shaft 440SZ at my local range and was able to consistently hit straight 250 to 300+ yard drives with minor fade, and this is coming from someone who has yet to take a golf lesson (I do plan to soon). With the 10.5*, I noticed that the trajectory of my drives were very high but did not compromise the distance. So recently I took the plunge and bought a 9* stiff shaft 440SZ (my swing is fast) and hopefully that will give me even longer drives. We'll see. Others have mentioned the sound this driver makes on contact with the ball - it is LOUD. Someone else's review here mentioned that the sound is very similar to an aluminum bat hitting a baseball - that's a very accurate comparison. Hitting the ball anywhere in the large sweet spot will give you a loud (and intimidating) 'ping' noise that can hurt your ears at times. At the driving range I got looks from everyone else around me every time I hit the ball. I heartily recommend this club for its forgiveness, range, and the fact that it sells for roughly $100 less than its competitors. As I can attest, it's very easy to hit, even for beginners. Cobra 440SZ 10.5
This thing is a cannon - and sounds like one :) It's the first driver that's been able to knock my trusty TM320 out of the bag. At first I couldn't hit anything but high rights with it - but I changed out the grip to one without the lame reminder rib in it and it makes all the difference (I play with a fairly strong grip - think Azinger). Now I'm back to hitting my normal slight draw/slight push mis-hit. It's definitely longer than the 320, high, flat and far. It doesn't hurt that it's about $100 cheaper than the new TMs and Callways either. Customer Service Not needed. Similar Products Used: Tried 'em all. |

King Cobra 440sz
I have recently moved to Arizona the state of "golf". Before going on my first scramble here in AZ I treated myself to a new driver. I got my swing analyzed and realized I have a 110 mph swing. I was told to get a stiff or exstiff. I bought the King Cobra because I love the irons I have, Needless to say, it is the best driver I have ever hit!!! I actually have a slight fade now with my drives. I now have broke 90 twice, two weeks in a row and can't wait to go back to Ohio and show up my Dad in June!!! By the way, I also one $200 dollars in the scramble. We took 2nd place by a .32nd of a point. 100 for my new driver. Success never tasted sooooo swweeett!! Excellent Driver!! King Cobra 350ss 3 wood is excellent too!!! Customer Service Haven't had to use it. Similar Products Used: Dunlop Driver Calloway Big Bertha |

Outstanding Driver. I was playing the 983K until we had a Titleist/Cobra demo day at our country club. Prior to hitting the Cobra, I would not have taken anything for my 983K as it is a great driver. My 440 SZ (9* Stiff)is, simply put, 15-20 yards longer than the 983K. The ball flight is very straight. It however is more difficult to work the ball (draw/fade)than the 983K. I have played the Cobra driver for 1 month and have found it to be the easiest driver I have have ever played. I do agree with the other reviewers regarding the sound at impact, which is much louder than I am used to. But give me 20 more yards and I call that sound, the sound of distance. This is another fine product from the Titleist family. Customer Service Met with Titleist/Cobra rep. Great service! Similar Products Used: Titleist 983K Mizuno MP1 |

King Cobra SZ 440 Milled Titanium 9 Degree Driver
BEST driver thus far for me and believe me I have been an experimental freak via Ebay for the last 3 years. The only thing I don't like about it is that it tends to push/slice AFTER it launches straight initially. I have been trying to alter every aspect but I think it may either be the shaft (original stiff Aldila graphite shaft) OR I tend to open the face at impact which leads me to believe through experimentals that the "Offset" version via the 400 stiff seemed to cure so all and all not sure of my dilemma. But getting back to the driver it goes the furthest by far compared to all my other drives via the same markers/wind conditions of all golf courses bar none. In fact the "tink" is so loud that it gets attention and at times literally hurts my eardrums. I got a great deal by pure luck but have found a few lower $200's on Ebay. Customer Service No experience. Similar Products Used: Taylor Made XD 500 Series (weird contact) and Titleist 983K/E (easier to hit than the Taylor Made but not the King Cobra). |

440 SZ w/Apache 65N "orange crush"
I played the Titleist 983K driver early in the year and found it to be a good driver but very inconsistent, probably me more than the driver but it would boom a driver way out there and then the next hole it wouldn't go to far. I had been toying with getting the Cobra for a while because it was solid and promoted much confidence. I bought one with the stock shaft and played it for a stint and like it alot, but wanted a little stiffer shaft. I put the Apache 65N into the club and it completed the deal. It goes long and is very easy to hit straight. It is a little deafening sometimes, but it is a small price to pay for the length and forgiveness. King Cobra SZ 440 9 degree stiff
The shaft on my Callaway Hawkeye driver broke during my first trip of the year to the range. A local store allowed me to take a trio of new clubs out to the range for a trial. I hit a number of balls with the Callaway Big Bertha Titanium, Cleveland Launcher 460, and King Cobra SZ 440. All were equipped with stock stiff (firm for the Bertha) shafts and either 9 or 9.5 degrees of loft. I expected that I'd like the Callaway, since it looks a lot like my old Hawkeye at address. I found I was hitting the club left with a lower trajectory than I would have liked. It quickly was out of the running. The choice between the Cleveland Launcher 460 and King Cobra SZ 440 was a tough one for me. Their big heads certainly inspire a lot of confidence when you're standing over the ball. To be honest, I preferred the sound at impact of the Cleveland, and it was also the club that I hit my longest shots with. It's got serious distance, and I have a feeling it will do very well with golfers who have few problems keeping their drives in the fairway. However, I kept going back to the Cobra. The trajectory I was hitting was surprisingly high for a 9 degree driver (at least as high as what I used to hit my 10 degree Hawkeye), but it was the straightness that got my attention. My swing has improved in the last couple of years, but I've always fought to keep my fade under control. While I hit some utterly fantastic shots with the Cleveland, I also sliced a few. Not so with the Cobra. I didn't hit a single bad shot at the range. A slight fade was present on a few shots, but nothing that approached an ugly slice, and all in all I was very impressed. I went out for the first round of the year that afternoon and used my new King Cobra SZ. It was undoubtedly my best driving day ever. I used the club on 12 holes, and I was very pleased with the results on 11 of them (the 12th was OB, but no driver could have saved that terrible swing). The club totally works for me. I've never hit a driver this straight before. The club has a fairly closed face at address and was obviously designed to help the golfer whose natural tendency is to fade. Carry length was quite impressive - my friends made numerous comments about it. The trajectory I'm hitting at is higher than I would have expected so roll was minimal on a damp spring course, but I'd personally give up 10 yards of roll distance to be in the fairway any day. I'm guessing it's about 10 yds longer than the 5 year old driver it's replacing. My swing speed has been clocked between 92 and 94 mph, and the stock firm shaft worked well for me on both conservative and very aggressive swings. I also found the red shaft to be quite attractive. In a nutshell, the King Cobra SZ 440 is less expensive than some of the other big name clubs out there (though still quite pricey) that will give you premium performance. If you have a natural tendency to fade, I think there's a good chance you'll find that this club is a great choice for you. Try to hit a few different loft clubs if possible, since my experience thus far has been that this beauty wants to get the ball up in the air. I'm only giving the club 4 stars for value since $299 seems like an awful lot to me for a golf club, but I certainly have no regrets about the fact I now own one and can't wait for my next opportunity to use this big stick. Cobra 440SZ 9* Stiff
This driver rocks! It is long, straight and music to the ears. I love this club. There is something very satisfying about teeing up a ball very high (the bottom of the ball just barely below the top of the driver) ripping it 265 to 290 depending on the wind, and watching it fly down the middle of the fairway. It's nice being using a SW or PW for your second shot on straight par 4s. Driving is the best aspect of my game. It was greatly improved with this killer driver. My biggest weakness is my short game. It sucks! I am usually putting 2 or 3. I have only played golf for about 8 months, but my driver and irons are my strongest points. I am only 5'8" and 180lbs, but I am usually the longest in my group. This driver feels great and doesn't appear too large at setup. It inspires confidence, but it can be a double-edged sword. Confidence can balloon into over swinging and a dreadfully horrific hook. |
