Model Reviewed: Cobra F-Speed 10.5 stiff aldila

I picked up golfing about 8 years ago and ever since I started I could not hit my driver well at all. I tried everything, golf lessons, countless new drivers, and always changing my swing. But last year I started working in a sporting goods store and was able to purchase a Cobra F-Speed and man did it make a difference, with the instructions from the golf lessons and my new Cobra driver I could always hit the ball straight and about 275 yards. This was the greatest investment I have made for the sport of golf so far.

Model Reviewed: Cobra F Speed 10.5 Regular

I took up golf a year ago and got into it fantastically well. My iron work improved greatly and i got my self down to 2 putting regularly in a very short time. The only thing i hated....in fact dreaded...was picking up my retched Driver. I could guarentee it was going to go in the same direction every single time. Not one shot in a hundred went straight. As a beginner i thought it was something i was doing wrong and persivered in the hope i would improve. Not even 6 coaching lessons could get me to hit straight. I reviewed the driver and by all means it got a great feedback from wherever i looked. I decided to go and trade it in for something else. I tried out a load of drivers from Taylormade,Ping,Callaway etc and although my accuracy was better...none felt right. That's when it happened ....i got handed the F speed. Straight away it felt good.....I hit about 15 in a row....all straight....well over 250 ( according to comp) and boy did it feel good. I can't explain in words...but all i know is....every time i pick it up to use it...i am smiling and my body tingles in anticipation at using it.....I just love hitting this thing.....the noise it makes turns everybody's head....a loud, solid piercing crack. I paid £170 for this club......Probably could have got it cheaper...but i don't care because i've got it in my bag.

Model Reviewed: Cobra F Speed 10.5* Stiff Aldila

After a few years of using various clubs of ridicule, and the prospect of playing more frequently with a new boss, I decided to upgrade my club selection. The worst clubs in my bag were my woods and so the first thing to buy was a new driver. I did the research, read the reviews and then went out and demo'd as many clubs as I could. After the dust settled I selected the Cobra F Speed in a 10.5* loft with the stiff Aldila shaft. I paid $199 at a local Golf Galaxy and yes I know I could have beaten that price on ebay but I wanted to hit some balls today.

I have yet to play a complete round with the club but I did get it out to the range for a large bucket and my initial impressions. I warmed up with my 7-iron and after knocking a half-dozen or so I was ready for the unveiling.

The first thing I noticed about the club is that it is light, very light in comparison to what I had been swinging. I was also not used to looking down at a 460cc head which looks a little imposing at first. After a few whiffs at the air I teed one up, made a mental note to make a nice and easy swing and then gracefully topped one 30 yards in front of me. Aside from the rush of driving a ball 30 yards I was struck by the noise that this thing makes. Others have written about how loud this club is but I have never hit a club this loud, it is almost embarrassingly loud. Aside from the decibels it is also an odd sound to me as well and truthfully I wish that the Cobra engineers had done a little more to tone it down.

Getting beyond the noise I teed another one up and got a better piece of this one but it was still a topped ball. I teed the next few up higher and was soon cranking them off the tee. I did not feel that I was driving the ball all that far with most balls going between 225-250 but almost all were dead straight.

Once I felt more comfortable with the club I began working more on my address and tee height, after several more balls of fine tuning my stance and higher tee I was hitting much more consistently and longer too, most drives were now bouncing beyond the 250 marker. The distance is about right for me but my previous driver would have been spraying them in a much wider arc than I was now. I was targeting a large 250 marker on the range and felt very good that a much larger portion of the bucket landed in what would have been a safe fairway shot than I was used to.

Overall I think I am going to like this club a great deal and am looking to add a 3 wood and then the 20* and 23* hybrids. I conservatively expect that this club is going to keep me in the fairway 50% more often than I would have been without it, I really was hitting the ball very straight. I may not gain any yardage but I don't think I am giving up anything either. I always swore I would give up 30 yards to be more consistent and with this club I believe that I will get the added consistency without losing the yards. What that does for my handicap remains to be seen but I personally think it is going to be a big deal. I was one of those guys who basically played bogey golf with a few 7's and 8's each round prompted by wild tee shots that are difficult to recover from without a brilliant long iron game.

If nothing else I will attract attention when I hit the ball, the noise of this thing is truly unbelievable.

WOW!!! This is an amaizing club. I had been hitting a no name driver and hitting the ball about 250. I decided that it was time to upgrade to a good driver. I hadnt even thought of cobra, and after trying out the new Callaway, and R7, and burner the guy at the shop gave me this one. I tried it in the simulator, and according to that i was hitting 275 and straight. I was a little skeptical but the next morning when i went to play all doubt left. I hit 12/13 fairways, and hitting the ball straight. The ball flies off the face of club. Amaizing club, especially when you consider the price.

So, i had a taylor-made r540....couldnt hit it too well...i went to range last yr and test hit, 6 of the top clubs...the cobra f speed....OMG!!!! i started playing seriously like 4 yrs ago and was happy breaking 100.. 3 yrs ago i was in 90's, 2 yrs ago high 80's...last yr. after buying this f/speed driver, i had 12 rds (Out of 40played) in mid to high 70's and rest were in low 80's (they are tougher courses too)... i went fro 24 hndcp...to 9 right now....i have the 12 degree f/speed, the nice thing about the 12 degree is the face is 2-3 degrees closed....so if your used to slicing...w/ the face being closed, youll either get a nice lil draw or straight as an arrow....hard to slice w/ this club...NO LIE!!!NO i dont work for cobra. Just remember one thing... dont try to kill the ball...nice easy smooth swing, DONT TRY TO KILL IT!!!!! hit w/ 80% of your power and itll go ALOT farther...i was hitting the square nike's and callaways todays (3/22/07) and could still NOT hit them any farther than my cobra 12 deg. f/speed....best driver ever!!! Geoff Ogilvy won masters w/ it last yr...not Tiger or Mickelson ;-)

Model Reviewed: Cobra F Speed 460

Purchased the F Speed 460 (10.5, R shaft-mid kick point)just prior to a golf vacation in Florida this winter ($199.00 on sale new). I purchased it without having hit it at a range first (I live in Northern NewEngland). I had not played in 3 months so I was leary as to how this new club would perform with a rusty winter golf swing.

That fear was removed the first day warming up on the practice range. Pretty much was hitting either straight balls to slow draws with little effort right out of the box. Distance was maybe 10 yds longer than my old Cobra 427 with the same effort (Graffaloy R shaft, tipped). Played a total of 7 rounds with this club in FL in fairly windy conditions and I found I could also hit a lower boring ball when needed which was a concern going to this new shaft. The only problem is I had to fly back north to 3 feet of snow and I will not be able to use this great club again for at least another 2 months.

Model Reviewed: Cobra F Speed 460 stiff 9

wowza, i was hesitant to buy this model as I already have the 460sz 9deg which i am in love with but i boughtthe F speed 9deg anyway. figured it had to be longer and straighter due to the technoligical improvements (longer front to back and wider weighting). my first trip to the course led to nothing but line drives (9deg launch angle) in the 275 range which is about average length for me (my normal drive on the SZ carries about 250 and rolls out to 275) but the ball flight was much lower compared to my current 460SZ. however i did catch a line drive with the wind at our backs and ended up being on the back of the green on a par 4 measuring 369.... i figure the wind cheat factor of 25 mph helped it about 100 yards. Anyhow the low ball flight and unintended fade that day was all a result in my swing as i was overpowering with my right hand (im right handed) and not leading the way with my left arm. well with a little practice at the range i was back to getting a mid ball flight (12 deg launch) and carrying 260.... thats a 10 yard carry increase and about the same 25 yard roll so i was 10 yards longer overall at a price of $175... when i relly let loose i was carrying 270-275. I love cobra and i even tried to go with another brand driver this time around, nothing else compared. I tried the nike sasquatch (lost distance and too high of a launch even with a 9deg) and the ball died at the end of the ball flight, it felt really soft which was nice but im used to the crisp feel of aldila. tried the adams redline 460 dual (the golf pro has this in his bag and raves about it) and i hit one close to the heel and the epoxy came loose. great club and it felt soft and crisp on impact and was very accurate and long but just got turned off by that glue breaking inside the club on a single heel strike. I tried the x speed as well. the low kickpoint had me hitting like randy johnson pitches... hard and fast but right in the strike zone. too low of a launch (7-8 deg) for my 99-109 swing speed

I loved this driver when I got it this summer and then I fell out of love with it pretty quick. The shaft is 55 grams and that is too light. I could not feel the club. I recently bought a true temper steel shaft for it and WOW this club is back to the club I fell in love with.

Model Reviewed: King Cobra F Speed 460CC

I've already got a King Cobra Baffler Rescue Club, but I hadn't really thought of Cobra at all, before. The guy gave me about 4 different drivers to try, and the first three, I wasn't pleased with. One didn't feel right, and the other two made me slice even worse than usual. I was getting slightly unconfident here, but I picked up the next driver. First shot - Nailed... Straight as an arrow.. I thought this was a fluke, but did it again... Time after time after time. I knew this was the driver for me.

The guy was a pro, and he said he really liked my swing, and instinctively knew that I had something in it, if I just kept playing.

This experience got me thinking. I could hit this driver a mile, straight. So the next day, I went to the range again. I picked up the Cobra F Speed 10.5 reg, got it taped up and went out onto the range. Hit 120 balls with it, and duffed three... That can be expected, because:

A. It's a new, strange driver
B. I'm a 24 handicapper

I usually would tend to duff about 10 out of 120, so this was much better. About 10 went right, which can also be expected, because I have a slice. Usually about 90 out of 120 would go right, with my old driver.

So I thought... This driver is the one for me! I checked out the price in the shop, and nearly had a fit... £265!!! FOR A DRIVER!!! I was thinking, "Back to the drawing board... Can't afford this for probably the next few years!" But I got a recommendation from my friend, about www.onlinegolf.co.uk

I went home, and the first thing I did was went on to this website. They had the driver (my specs, as well) for £180, inc. free delivery! This was so much better than my range.

Remembering this was Saturday night that I ordered the club, using standard delivery (3-5 days), the club came yesterday... Tuesday...

So off comes the packaging, and I go out to the range. Bought 90 balls. Took a bit of getting used to, but all in all I was hitting it BRILLIANTLY!!! Hit about 75 balls, perfect. Straight as an arrow. All carried over 185 yards, which was brilliant for me, being a short hitting 13 year old.

I was trying everything... Slicing swings, overswinging etc... but I could NOT get the ball to move! Everything went straight! It's almost impossible to slice or hook this club...

I am in love... It is brilliant.

Now onto the driver itself...

First impressions... Amazing... Looks brilliant. Almost double the size of my old driver, which obviously contributes a lot to the extra distance. It looks really nice. At address, just looks like a standard King Cobra, but there's something to it that makes it different. I don't know for the life of me what it is, but you can tell that this is better than other drivers.

I got it with a regular flex Aldila NV-F shaft... Yeah, it's green, but it still looks the business... If you can it it really far and straight, who really cares about the colour of the shaft?

The grip is really nice as well... It is just the right size, as on my old driver, I had been using a grip that was too big, making it difficult to grip properly, but it feels really good. I'm not sure how good it will be if it gets wet, but still... I won't be playing in the rain. Also. It has two circles on the front, to show where your thimbs should be positioned. This really helps, as I sometimes find myself gripping too loosely.

It has the "9 Point Clubface", which also optimizes mis-hits. I find this really good, as sometimes, I stand too close to the ball and find myself hitting out of the heel a bit.

Finally. My overall impressions of the driver.

It is a really nice looking driver. It feels really nice, and makes you want to just grip it and rip it. It goes really far and really straight, and I think it is an amazing club... I love it!
