I have been trying drivers for a LONG time... several were long (Cleveland Comp. 3DX, Exotics to name a few) and a few were straight (Hi-Bore, G2, r5Dual) but the combo of straight and long is now in the bag: launcher 460. I have the silver 65 S flex factory shaft (I much prefer it to the old gold shaft) and cut it down from 46" to 44.5". It has some weight in the head, which I really like, classic design, great sound, and the 9.5* seems to have a just right trajectory. I am much straighter, and long enough (average 280ish with the occasional 300+ blast if the fairway is wide enough to take a big rip at it). I used to think long first, now I think straight... and this stick is great for that. Prices are really reasonable, and I recommend this as a all-time great driver.

Almost everything... next best? A tie, the Hi-Bore XL and the old Snake Eyes Compressor 400cc with ProLaunch 55R. XL was great, but could not get comfortable with any of the factory shafts... maybe with a Penley ETA or a ProLaunch Red it would move to the top.

I bought this club with the Aldila NV 65g Stiff shaft off of ebay about 2 years ago.

Last season when I put this driver into play I immediately saw a 30-40 yard improvement along with a straighter, more penetrating ball flight. This worked perfect for my typical balloon shot I was accustomed to. This season I really worked on my swing and the club has rewarded me. I am consistently blasting drives 290-300 with this driver. The feel and the sound are incredible and the look is clean and classic. This club shows you mean business. I believe this is the best driver ever made. If I break it, I will get another one just like it.

Haven't dealt with them.

There is something about this club, the way it feels, looks and sounds on impact that makes me feel simply confident. Just by gripping it and trying a few swings I know I am going to hit a good shot. And golf being a mind's game, this is not negligible. I hit consistent long draws, with medium-high ball flight, 80% on fairways. I had a short-lived affair with a TM R5 dual neutral, which was recommended to me as an antidote against my tendency to snap hook the ball. It turned out to be a nightmare, with the ball going anywhere but straight. I am back on the 460. I also have a Titleist 983k which is unbeatable as to distance and feel, but it requires a lot more work. For score and in competition, the 460 is the 1st in my bag.

After consistently lower my scores this year, I got a bad case of the snap hooks. I am hitting a great driver (Mizuno MP-001) and irons that are all regular.

I got one of these in stiff and switched back to stiff irons, hoping it would help. It did a little, but I was still hooking the ball.

If you can snap hook this club and the Mizuno, you won't be able to hit any driver. I pounded out 27 holes today and finally figured out what I was doing wrong.

The moral of the story is that the best equipment can only help, it won't fix something this awful.

I finally got to enjoy this club the last nine holes. Here is what I learned. This club is worthy of its higher rating.

I think this and the Mizuno are equally good but in different ways. The Mizunos hit low, boring shot with lot of roll and are straight. This Club, Launcher, hits the ball high, long and straight.

The verdict - I live in Iowa, and it's often windy here. It's about a 50/50 chance of very windy or reasonable.

If it's windy, I am pulling out the Mizuno, If it's calm - the Launcher. When its windy, I want the ball low off the deck and rolling 80 yards. When it's calm, I want it high, long, and dropping softly.

This is a great club and so is the Mizuno. I am really more of a "results" person, so looks really don't mean that much. If they do, you might want to take a look at the Mizuno. The MP-001 driver is the best looking driver I have ever seen.

If you hit too low - get the Launcher, if you hit to high - get the Mizuno. If you can't find one, get the other.

Model Reviewed: 460 Launcher Comp

I had the 460 Launcher Regular flex in looking for a stiff shaft to put in it I came acrossthe 460 COMP with a stiff shaft version for $75. I hit it one time on the range and traded in my original 460 Launcher on the way out the door. I have since played around with the Sumo and New Burner TP and I hit this much better than the Nike and a little bit better than the Burner TP. SO I would say if you want explosive drives that are very consistant this is by far the best deal on the marketplace. I also recommend the matching fairway woods, they are the easiest to hit I have played.

I've been using the 460 for a couple of years now and absolutely love it. Ball goes long and straight and can be worked left or right, although it requires a little more skill than I have to do it consistently. I tried everything on the market at the time and like the Launcher and TM R5 the most. Launcher was $50 cheaper, so I went with it and have no regrets. I haven't tried the newer clubs out there, but don't hesitate to recommend the Launcher.

I picked one up on Ebay for $75 and it out plays my expensive Callaway driver--this is a 10.5 degree and it literally explodes off the tee box--good sound, good launch angle and I get 20 more yards--keeps the ball pretty striaght too. For the money--you cant beat it--I am a 9 handicapper

there isn't anything that i didn't like about this driver. it is long, straight, and had a pretty good feel to it. i average 320 from the tee with it and i am hitting about 70 percent of the fairways which is great for me. the best thing is i picked up this great driver for 140 bucks on rockbottomgolf.com

I have played my Launcher 460 (9.5 degree, green aldila nv65 stiff) for the past two years and have been very pleased with the results. I was reluctant to tee the ball high at first, but now love it. I find my trajectory is very high, although I think I can attribute a lot of that to the shaft (my swing speed is usually between 110-115, or so the launch monitor says). In fact, my carry is pretty much ideal (roughly 260-270 yards most of the time, 290 about 20% of the time). Anybody who says that they consistantly carry 300+ with any club is probably kidding themselves and needs to look a little closer at their yardage, or they should join the tour. I think this club tends to draw more than fade, which is fine by me.

I am however switching to the Hi-Bore 9.5 degree with a proforce v2 stiff shaft just to see if I can squeeze a little more distance out of my drives.

Overall, this is a great club and a tremendous value, especially because you can pick one up for relatively cheap on ebay now. I have no regrets about this club and if my buddy didn't need a new driver (he broke the shaft on his ping tisi), then I probably wouldn't switch to the Hi-Bore.
