Cleveland Hibore XL Tour Drivers

DESCRIPTION

This driver takes Distance Driven Geometry to a whole new level, creating Full-Face Performance (FFP) for the ultimate in driving effectiveness. By creating a face-centered sweetspot for greater distance from anywhere on the clubface as well as a high Moment of Inertia (MOI) for stability on off-center hits, Cleveland designers have combined power, precision and forgiveness. With the Fujikura Fit-On shaft fitting system as well, your HiBORE XL will be customized to your swing for maximum performance.

After caving in the face of my TM R580 I was in the search for an updated piece of technology. In the past 5 years everyone seems to have gone 'hook face' crazy and I couldn't even find a square faced model. Taylor Made TP series say square, but having Golf Smith test several of them they are still closed.

The way this sits ad address makes me drool and I'm actually liking it better than my R580 which I loved. Nice little 10 yard cut unless I unload ferociously with my hands and then I can get a draw. The fairway is 50% larger now...just aim at the left rough margin and pull the trigger:)

Not to mention I picked it up for $55 on ebay with the Fuji Red Stiff.....equivalent to a $90 shaft aftermarket Fit On E.

Model Reviewed: Hibore XL Tour 10.5

The Tour version of the Hibore XL is IMO is an outstanding driver. It's 2-3 degrees open at address rather than closed like so many others these days. If your shot pattern is a draw like mine, with an occasional long hook, those closed faced drivers will kill you, especially when cranking hard on them.

As other reviewers mentioned, the red shaft (mid to high kick point) really keeps the shots in a boring trajectory for those who don't need help getting the ball in the air. Having an upright swing myself, the steep attack creates more backspin than is ideal, so standard game improvement clubs tend to make that situation worse. And normally, to counter that, I've gone with 7 and 8 degree heads. This time I went with the 10.5 and the high kick point shaft combo and head to head beat every other stock driver I tried.

A nice, medium swing produces perfect boring trajectory and tons of roll, and 10-20 yards longer than any other driver tested ... some of which cost 4 times as much (now).

The Hibore XL is now extremely low priced compared to the newer generations of drivers out, and it really is a super bargain.

No need to buy into the trap of spending $300-$400 every time a new driver is released ... this one is now 2-3 generations behind, but performance wise, just as good, if not better.

The whole trick is to fit the proper specs to your swing in loft and shaft characteristics to produce the optimal launch angle and spin rate. Do that, and you'll get much better results.

I've recently gotten back into golf after not even touching a golf club for about 8 years. Used to shoot mid-high 70's. Used a Cleveland Quadpro(10years old now) and I hit this one just as far with about a 70-80 % swing. I really like the 3 degree open face. I'm still trying to put my swing together but so far so good for this driver. love the trajectory. Also decent amount of feedback from mis-hits.
The only downside for me was the way too loud.

Model Reviewed: Cleveland HiBore XL Tour 9.5

I tried many drivers on the current market and none comes close to the Cleveland HiBore XL Tour 9.5. The Tour version is best because it has a SQUARE face. I had trouble with all the rest because the faces are closed anywhere from 2 to 3 degrees. Not the Cleveland HiBore XL Tour 9.5 !! With all other drivers from the major manufacturers, because of the closed faces, I was hooking, snap hooking and at best hitting an extreme draw. Not with the Cleveland HiBore XL Tour 9.5

The Cleveland HiBore XL Tour 9.5 is LONG, very LONG too. I added 30 more yards to my drives with this club. I"m a clubmaker and I have not had to adjust anything on this driver. The big surprise is for once, the standard OEM shaft ( Red,stiff ) does what it says on the shaft. Red shaft is 3.1 torque. This model is LONG very LONG and STRAIGHT down the middle of the fairway. I LOVE this Driver.

If you have a tendency to hook, snap hook or hit a real bad draw, get the TOUR version of any Cleveland Driver.. You will be amazed. I played this club with a Titleist ProV1 and Pinnacle balls... Whew,, long, very long and straight.

I was ecently in the market for a new driver and this particular one caught my eye. I did some research on it and was pleased to see it got very high reviews. I decided to go to my local Dick's and egt ftted for one of these clubs. They told me to try a 9.5 loft driver with the gold stiff shaft. I promptly went out to try my new club and I was blown away. After playing a round of nine holes I averaged the distance of all my drives and discovered I had added an average of 30 yards to my tee shot! I can also hit my draw more consistently now thanks to this great club. I cannot recommend this club more highly. Kudos to Cleveland!

I got a change to check this beauty out today. All I can say is this is one of the greatest, and most underated, clubs on the market. I had a handfull of drivers that were over 300 yds. I am a former professional so yes I can hit it over 300 yds. The distance, however, is not the best feature of this club. This club rewards good swings and punishes poor swings. I recently tried the TM Burner and all I can say is Yuck! This club might be alright for those who have no athletic ability but for serious golfers the Hi-Bore is the way to go.

After 14 years of using my Callaway Big Bertha Warbird Driver, I decided to try some new driver technology. Since I only play 5-10 a year now I did not want to spend 300+ dollars for a new one. I saw the Cleveland Highbore XL Tour Driver at Dick's Sporting Goods for $145 and decided to give it a try.

I don't know if it's the new technology built into drivers since 1994, but I could barely hit this thing offline. I have allways hit the driver pretty long and straight but using this thinh is like cheating!

I got the 9.5 degree with the stiff/red fujikora shaft. I am hitting this thing at leat 20 yards longer than my old Big Bertha Warbird.

This club can't be beat for $145!!!

Model Reviewed: Cleveland Hibore xl

I shoot mid to high 80's only playing once in a while, used to play to a 6-7 handicap when I played regularly.

I bought the Hibore XL based on reviews and how it felt when I swung it at the store. It's a 10.5 loft with gold stiff shaft. My normal swing speed is 101.

I find it has an unusually low trajectory and a friend who tried it for a few holes and who is a much better golfer than I am now found the same... but he hit it long and straight (albeit low) while with his own driver he had less distance higher flight and a slight fade.

Mis-hits do not stray too far, but give up a lot of distance. I have been using a 3.25" tee and I think it needs another half inch height to catch this club on the sweet spot, which seems to be closer to the top of the clubface than the middle. I have been for the most part catching the ball on the lower half of the clubface. However, when the sweet spot is hit it is the longest, straightest club I have ever hit and responds to the extra oomph very well.

My previous driver is a nicklaus air max with a 10.5 loft and with the 3.25" tee produces a high straight ball flight with good distance - I just didn't like that when I gave that little extra oomph, the air max didn't respond and could get a bit wild.

Just as the salesman strongly suggested to me on purchase, I should have taken it to a driving range before taking it to a course. I need to experiment a bit more with this driver to give it a thumbs up or thumbs down, but for now I see a lot of potential, I love the feel of it and how it responds to cranking it up a bit. There is an ability for a low handicapper to work the ball with this club but for a higher handicap they will get a longer drive that should stay in play if teed high.

Prices on the XL model are pretty good now, so I would say it's a great value club.

Played 2 rounds w/ this club. Has the Cobra LD-M before and this is far away a better club. Alot is the shaft though. I have the tour red reg. flex and it is perfect! Very few factory shafts are this good. I have a 88mph swing and this tip-stiff is dead on. It is not any longer than my Cobra, but it just feels better and is more forgiving. This combined w/ my Cobra S9 irons have dropped my hcp, 4 strokes in the last 1.5 months! Give this club and honest try w/ this shaft and I think you will be convinced. Oh, and the price, a steal!
