This is the most forgiving driver that Callaway has made. Last year after buying a BB II 415, I never would have thought that any new driver would be able to pry the 415 from my hands. Plus I just couldn't get used to the look and feel of the bigger drivers. I tried the G2, Redline, Cleveland. The heads seemed too light and just felt like a cantelope on a stick. But the new 454 has a better weight to it and the biggest bonus to this club that you hit it pretty much anywhere on the face it will keep the average distance. Last week I tried teeing the ball up a little above the topline of the driver and now I rarely miss the face and if I catch it good that ball carries forever. The driver isn't the cure all for curing a slice/hook or whatever, that is the person's swing. I can still slice the thing off the planet as well as the next amateur with this thing, but the misses don't seem to be as bad as before. The price point is excellent and there are plenty of stock upgrade shafts that Callaway is offering that there should be one out there for everyone. I almost converted a Titleist die hard to getting one in 3 balls, so think about it.

really nice looking club face/hitting area, reasonably good looking top and side view for a clubgead this large. the trajectory is very hot in that it rises sharply but then quickly flattens out to maximize carry, roll and resistance to wind. perhaps not as flexible as an r7 or springy as an Ignite, I still believe this club is as hot as any other club on the market. for some reason the ball feels kind of slick on the club face, which makes me think i can't work the ball as much as some other clubs because it does't generate as much side spin. some will think that's a good thing, it's a matter of preference. this is the club callaway should have made last year, instead of the ugly looking and sounding fusion or the dated and uninspiring new big bertha.

Customer Service

response time is good but they're not always sharing with information; for example, they won't disclose the torque and flex points of their stock shafts. i found this odd; no other manufacturer does this. but it didn't matter since i went with the upgrade fujikura 652 speeder anyway.
