GBB Hawkeye 8.5 Pro Tour Stiff
My first experience with this club came on the simulator at golf smith. I was trying all of the new jumbo headed drivers - Launcher 400, R580, Cobra ss427, etc, etc. The best ball speed I could muster with any of those clubs was 155 or so. Picked up the Hawkey VFT Pro, and immediatly hit several shots between 168-172 mph with a launch angle in the 11-13 range. Feel was incredible compared to the Jumbo's too. I will post another review after a month on the course with it. Not sure how this 2000 model year driver produces more ball speed than the latest and greatest, but I don't really care! excellent club. it has a nice feel and i am able to hit 265 to 275 consistently when hit well. on mis-hits, it tends to hook. this could be because of the shaft. otherwise it is easy to hit slight draws and fades. i hit this club more consistently than any others i have owned or tried. Had my doubts initially about purchasing this club. Read lots of reviews sighting poor quality of stock shaft especially for strong hitters. Having had it for a year plus; great club, easy to hit and deafening 'ping' on impact. Surprise me with its average trajectory especially having owned previous callaway clubs that tended to balloned the ball. Distance good but not my longest with the hawkeye. |

This club is simply AWSOME.Even when you dont catch the ball correctly it still goes a long way. I used to have a really bad slice but with the slightly closed face of the hawkeye, within 3 games my slice has vanished. I have hit this club over 350 yards often without bounce. Cannot praise this club enough. Have tried the new big bertha 2 and its just not as good. Sounds hollow whereas the origional sounds very meaty. |

This driver was great when I purchased it back in early 2000. The "draw bias" technology causes hooks, though. Not as good as a VFT. I replaced this with a VFT about a year later. Customer Service Have not had to use ! Similar Products Used: Hawkeye VFT, Steelhead Plus, Warbird, Steelhead |

Long, added 40 yards over my old crap driver. Might be my swing too though. Now average 290-310 on good strikes. Not as solid and forgiving as some newer drivers, but that might be cause I have put a Proforce 65 X-stiff in it. Customer Service Great, free re-shaft Similar Products Used: Titliest 975D, Cobra ss310 and 370, Callaway C4 |

WOW! What a difference this club made in my game. I have had the club for over a year now and have gone from a 13 to a 7 handicap. The main reason for my better play is this club. I used to fade (OK slice) almost everything off the tee. Not any more! This club is straight and long. The club feels good and sounds good. I highly recommend this club! Great driver. Its about 20 yards longer than my previous Orlimar Trimetal driver. It's also pretty forgiving. Shots that would normally be in the woods or in the water with my Orlimar are now just in the rough. With this driver I consistantly shoot in the low 70's. After I got this club I shot even par for the first time. The forgivness this club has WILL save you strokes. Go get one if you can find one. |

The best driver ever made - period. Every golfer knows. Callaway: please put this back in production, instead of the VFT. We need these good clubs, instead of all those VFT or high-COR junks including the Taylor Made 300 series. Similar Products Used: most top drivers |

The best driver I've had so far. I sold my original Hawkeye for a VFT and that was a mistake. I found a used one and switched back and feel way more comfortable on the tee. I haven't lost any distance. The feel and the swingweight of the hawkeye is great. Similar Products Used: Callaway VFT, Titleist 975D |
