Model Reviewed: Alpha V2 425cc 10.5*

I had the calling to at least try a driver that was made with quality in mind & word of mouth as reference.

I decided to go with Alpha's V2 425cc.

The shape of the head follows along the lines of a traditional shaped pear design, very simular to the Titleist 983k model.

The Black Satin face finish is one of it's unique trademarks of this model, and it is absolutely beautiful to look at.

Another positive quality that I like is the sound at impact. It is not an aluminum can or thinny sounding driver.

The 1* closed face is no so dominate that it will throw your mental thinking at address and perhaps its the blended contrast with the Gloss Black & Satin Black that reduces this 1* angle down to a suggestion.

The Trajectory - When struck on the screws the whole show of flight is impressive even at sea-level.

I have found that the consistancy that is required in the impact area of is too few and far in between for my level of drives. This reminds me of the Kasco VS & Honma Type drivers...If you have the skill to hit within a dime of a sweetspot on a consistant basis, this will do you good.

Forgiveness - If you tend to hit inside of the sweetspot or even lower than dead center of the face, you will still get rewarded much more than what I deserved.

The gear effect is very effective on toe shots and I have'nt seen such effectiveness in a driver since the TM Burner Series with the Bubbleshaft...

Will this replace my current driver? no, I am afraid not...

I am sold on this company's ability to tend to the finer details of putting a driver head together with the durability of impacts in mind esp. with those SS of 115mph +

If, I had such unimaginable swingspeeds, perhaps this review would of reflected in a different presentation.

Perhaps my SS of 87-89 does not meet the minumium requirement to reap the potential of this driver in the first place.

Overall, this seemed to be a an average driver that has an "above average skill level of hitting the screws on a consistant basis" requirements for a once a month golfer like me.

However, from my brief encounter with this V2 425cc I look forward to other models that this company puts out, in the quest for distance.

Mine is shafted with an Icon Heavyweight by accuflex. This club is as good as any of the major brands' including the much hyped tp series. Once I adjusted to the heavier swing weight my average drive increased because of much improved consistency. The sound & feel are addictive.

None needed, but I received a free hat after a salesman read a positive review in another forum.

As most of you already know, Alpha is recognized as a leader in the World Long Drive competitions...I purchased this driver head with the understanding that it is the most played model in the Alpha line, it has yet to disappoint... ...Me 95-97 avg. Swing Speed but can bring it up if need be...Definitely in between a Swinger and Hitter...Fault; can get a little quick from the top... ...12* Alpha Reaction V2 425 mated with a Harmon HTD/CB shaft regular flex, no tip trimming, 45" playing length... ...The V2 425 head is awesome to look at, a real black beauty, fit and finish is 1st rate...It has a smoked black face that shows exactly where your ball was struck, then can be erased with your thumb, a real plus when practicing...The heads 425cc's is well hidden in its shape also, it doesn't have that 'Volkswagon on a stick' look to it... ...Shafted with the HTD this combination is what I would call sneaky long because of the rather muted sound of the driver head when hit...Its a very solid feeling head more akin to persimmon IMO...It does not produce that thin tinny sound that alot of the other drivers out there do... ...Trajectory is very penetrating even in 12 degrees with loads of carry and yet still has roll out...Its also a very forgiving design, you don't lose much distance when stuck off-centre on the clubface... ...Very hard to go wrong with this driver...If you are looking for that subtle, "Don't notice me until you are the 1st to hit from the fairway" driver this ones for you... ...The driver head itself is a tad pricey in comparison to most other component heads but still well under the cost of any new OEM driver you will find, thus my rating of 4 based solely on that fact...This is a 1st rate driver that I would put up against anything else out there at any price...Highly recommended...
