The sand traps are inconsistent. Some are "thread bare" with little sand in the bottom. Some traps have been reworked and provide a decent sand lie. PPCC is in the process of replacing 100% of the traps during the 2002 season, mostly in the fall.

Pautipaug Country Club is the best kept secret in eastern Connecticut for quality of the golf links, membership value, course availability, and overall golfing experience. PPCC has a challenging layout from the white or blue tees. Several of the par 4 holes are greater than 400 yards. From the blue tee boxes, only the longest hitters might consider reaching the par 5 holes in two shots.
