July 2001.
The Course was in excellent shape. It has improved a great deal in one year. Fairways are well conditioned and well kept. Greens played well for an average golfer. The putting surfaces, slopes and undulations are a good test for any golfer.
Fairway grass is consistent. No excessive weed intrusion
Much of the rough is punishing but as it should be.
Several holes have little or no "rough" and are bordered by thick blackberry vines. A ball off the fairway is probably LOST because the player is unlikely to risk injury and damaged to clothing.. This is the main Negative of trhe Green Mountain golf course, and is a problem that should be dealt with..

Power carts are NOT required.

This course has a very good layout and despite it being somewhat new it has developed nicely. The grass used for the greens are pro quality but it may not hold up well unless maintained perfectly. The greens are also VERY hard and hard to hold even with a high-spin ball (may help in maintaning the greens in good quality). Drainage is not bad, but not good. Water tends to stay on top of the grass and not drain away, but there are no signs of mud in the fairway, The rough, however tends to get very muddy if wet. Even though the course is well maintained and the greens are spectacular they have some work to do. the fairways are not perfect different types of grass and clover are mixed in and unless taken care of now will get much worse. After all is said there is one thing that kills this course for me and my golfing buddies is the cost They charge for carts whether you want them or not. so in essence they charge country club rates for a high end muni course
