Shoots in the 80s

this is a pretty fun, shotmakers course. shortish, narrow in places. greens can be really tough. you can leave yourself in a real mess if you miss some of these greens. a couple of the best holes around as well.

Shoots in the 80s

I played this course shortly after it was first opened while I was work at the college of William & Mary. I used the driving range more than the course because I was working on a budget and also because I'm used to paying $15 to $35 a round on great Australian courses! Having played almost all the Williamsburg courses and liking them just fine I found this this course to be top value. Kingsmill and the Colonialcourses are pretty glitzy, no doubt about that, but if Kiskiak is looked after well by the green keepers its a winner!

Customer Service

The pro shop is pretty small - budget. The staff were laid back which suited me.

An excellent value for the average golfer. From the middle tees very enjoyable for the mid to high handicapper. Course nicely maintained and layout of holes with nice variability including water, woods etc. Fairways are quite generous which is nice for the high handicapper while greens are well bunkered making a precise second shot essential. At least two of the par fives are reachable in two with two excellent shots which is also a nice feature. Clearly there are fancier golf courses in Williamsburg however most of these are double the price!

The guy above is right, except that they redid the layout. Hole #1 is now a long par five. I don't agree with courses that start you out this way. You have to go long right off the start. Not the best thing for your average golfer. It also causes an immediate slowdown for the flow of golfing traffic. It was not a good decision to swap the nines. They also charge 46 dollars for a course that cost 36 dollars before they swapped the nines. Shall I go on. There are much better courses in this area that cost only a little bit more. Try somewhere else.

Kiskiak is a wonderful, wonderful course. While a relatively new course, the pro shop is a trailer, but there are plans to build a new one, duh. So it is not very spectacular, but it is well stocked and well staffed. A beautiful joy right from the start, a par 4 with water right and left to a small green protected by water from an elevated tee box, WOW! Beautifully kept, the greens are spectacular. They are fast and difficult. The fairways are beautiful and low. Tees are in great shape year round. With a beautiful and scenic layout, this a course you must try. It has some of the most challenging and beautiful last holes in VA. Definately one of the best in Williamsburg. Nice driving range and large putting green.
