THE ROCK - Very fun and interesting little mountain course. This is what mountain golf is all about. Condition is usually pretty good, greens hold and roll well, and fairways are pretty good. Tee boxes aren't great, but the ball is on a tee. Every hole is different and there are many things to think about, risk/reward, course management a key. It is a placement course that requires straight shots off the tee. There are two holes (#1 and #17) that if you hit a perfect drive in the dead middle of the fairway 100 yards out you have no shot at the green because of very large mature trees in the middle of the fairway. Other than that, a very fun and fair layout. Great value and great staff.

By far the best value in the area, Castle Rock is a challenging but enjoyable mountain course with some very subtle greens. Straight shooters will find very little trouble here, but for those that struggle off the tee, this course could make for a very long day. A serious downside to this course is the membership. I have never seen such disrespect for the general public as you will find at Castle Rock. They think that they own the course, and anyone who doesn't pay dues is an intruder. The pace of play is truly pathetic as well. If you see alot of cars in the lot, expect a round somewhere in the area of 5 1/2 hours.
