Fairways are in great shape for the most part(bermuda)although there are a few holes on the back nine that are still recovering. This course is a challenge for all levels of golfers.

A couple of the greens are slowly disintegrating. Last year they attempted to enlarge them and instead probably ruined them(at least for this year).

This is a 6500 yard par 71 course originally developed for Dupont employees of Martinsville/Henry County. It has been opened for new memberships for several years. The front nine is somewhat difficult, lots of trees surrounding fairly wide fairways on the long holes, challenging par 3's from elevated greens. The back nine is somewhat easier and meanders along the Smith River. When it rains alot the fairways don't drain very well on the back(some become actual swamps)and it takes a long while for them to recover. Many greens are absolutely horrendous and the club states that it is because of too much rain too early in the summer that didn't drain correctly. The members have other ideas about that. They also have a pool next to the first tee and the noise is sometimes deafening.
