This place should be re-zoned for a goat ranch. There's hardpan all over the fairways, the greens are like putting on velcro, and the pace of play is ridiculously slow.

Customer Service

This is one part where the course shined. There was an hour frost delay so while we waited the starter gave everyone a bucket of balls to hit while we waited.

Don't even think about bringing some water on to the course. Their rules prohibit ANY outside drinks including water. In a year there can be 60 days over 100 degrees in Austin and they have to milk the customer for every penny possible. Sure some customers may understand these types of rules but when your a father trying to introduce 13 and 10 year olds to the game the green fees are expensive enough without forcing your customers to buy $3 bottles of water from your grill. That's BAD BUSINESS IMO and no wonder golf is on the decline.

This course is under new management by the Arnold Palmer group. The new management is making the course and conditions better, but its hard to fix a bad design.

IMO, this course is way too tight due to encroaching homes and roads. Because of the homes and roads, there is O.B. on nearly every hole. A few holes even have O.B. withing 20-30 yards of the green! (not 30 yds off the *fairway*, but from the *green*).

Several othe holes are simply not fun because they are too difficult and unforgiving with no safe place to bail out. Number nine is a brutal par 4 with water at about 260-280 from the tees, which forces good players to layup with 3 wood or less. This causes the 2nd shot to be 200+. The creek going acrosss the fairway goes away from the tee box on the left side of the fairway, giving the perception that the left is a safe bail out area, but you cannot see from the tee that there is a pond also on the left, which eliminates any actual safety when going left. Seventeen and Eighteen are similarly frustrating with little to no room for "safe" shots.

Hidden water is another issue on this course. Several holes have water hazards hidden from view, so unless you are familiar wih the course, this can be very frustrating.

Another thing that I noticed is that the bunkers on this course seem to be placed with no thought of strategy or design. Often the bunkers are too small or inappropriately shaped for the hole/position. Like many bunkers in central Texas, these are also very inconsistent, with some being filled with fluffy soft sand and others being shallow with a mixture of mud and dirt with little to no sand.

Lastly, I have a cosmetic criticism. The cart paths are strewn all over every hole like holiday festooning. Its really obnoxious with cart paths running from side to side.

All in all, the new management is imporving things, but its hard to correct fundamental design issues.

Customer Service

Staff was courteous and friendly.

I played this course a month ago and it is in absolutely pitiful condition. The greens are burned out, there is no grass in the fairways, there is no sand in the bunkers, and the water hazards near nine and eighteen smell like dead animals.

Customer Service

Better than it used to be, but when your course is in as bad shape as this one is, you need to warn your customers and apologize in advance.

Played here once several years back.Located just n/e of Austin. It is a really beatiful course.Has all the makings of a pro tournament course.
The fees back then were reasonable, however according to another review, the price is...well...pricey.Kind of flat surfaced for the Austin area.Open on some of the course...which brings wind into play on most occations.
All in all?When I played?It was a nice course.

Customer Service

Have not played here in years because they kept raising their prices. It was affordable during its first five years -- then BOOM!!!...green fees went through the roof. Compare its prices to Bluebonnet -- a similar links-style course -- and you'll see that it is a big rip off. Not worth the price, no way in hell. They are trying to live off the rich high tech Dellionaires that have moved into Round Rock during the recent high tech boom. They can have it. Careful...someone told me they once saw a nest of cottonmouths in that lake on number eleven...

Customer Service

Can't remember.
