Nos 9 and 18!!!!

The recent Course management... and I don't mean maintenance...

What a shame!!! I was stationed at Carswell Air Force Base for 9 years!! And this is the course where I learned to play golf.. When they closed Carswell AFB in 1993 and the Navy moved to this base to run the Ft. Worth Joint Reserve base, they did not want to take control of the Golf Course.. that is when it was leased to Mark Brooks and Brooks Golf.. He did a tremendous job with this course.. I went back and played in several years after I left and it still kicked my butt... Sorry to see this one go.. But, now I am intrigued to go back and play the redesign to see the changes..

What a shame. This course used to be great when it wan run by Brooks Golf. Now it's as sorry as your average chicken sandwich. Poor maintenance will make a course go downhill faster than you can say Jack Robinson. A good design that used to be fun to play when it was taken care of, now it's just a whip. It'll be interesting to see how it plays when the redesign is finished.

It's not a good.

Great tee box positions. Wonderful course for someone who can shape their shots.

Topography sometimes makes it difficult to keep course well watered in the warmer months.

An excellent value, Carswell is closing November 26, 2000 to totally renovate the course. In its current layout, its a 121 slope and has some very challenging holes. The majority of the changes will be relocating a few holes to accomodate high dollar real estate being developed around the former military base.
