This course changed its name to Grey Rock in 2008. It is a nice little public course, with good course conditions, but not particularly challenging. Not a lot of water, bunkers, or trees in the way, and the landscape is relatively flat for the Austin hill country. The layout seems to favor fast play. However, it is definitely a step up from municipal courses, and is worth playing. The clubhouse was under construction, and the improvements look nice. The practice range is nice as well. Customer Service The staff seemed courteous. |

This could be a nice club, but it falls a little short. No yardage book or GPS, which can cause some blind tee shots to go through doglegs into the scrub-brush.Grasses were in good shape, but the greens were PAINFULLY slow, Bunkers very inconsistent. We ended up taking two wedges to them because you either sank in four inches of sand or had almost no sand at all. Batting often sticking up through sand.No club washer on range, but there is plenty of room and good grass there. No way to walk this course. At least 1/2 mile to first tee and from 8 green to 9 tee.11th hole closed for new green construction which they neglect to tell you until you are at the 1st tee. Customer Service Staff mostly indifferent inside but club guys that greet you in parking lot and clean your clubs when you finish very nice. cart girls were great except no condiments for sandwiches. Hope you like them dry. |

The last two reviews tell the story. This was a really nice daily fee that was bought by American Golf and they drove it into the ground. New ownership in '03 and the course is in great shape. The bunkers were all rebuilt and many other improvements as well like new carts. A couple years ago, I wouldn't play there because it wasn't woth the money. Now it's probably one of the more pricey daily fees, but IMO, worth it. The staff is friendly and you can usually finish in a little over four hours. This is my home course now. Customer Service Excellent, even the marshalls seem to care. Similar Products Used: Great, cozy grill. Excellent food, one of the best cheesburgers around. They even have a washer pitching pit. |

Definetly NOT worth the $65 dollar weekend green/cart fee. Look for $$ saving coupon in the local newspaper. I played on 9/29/02, fairways and greens in OK shape considering thelong hotTexas summer. Traps were horrible shape, every trap flooded-out from the spinkler system. Staff and pace was ok. Customer Service OK, Did I mentioned the beercart girls. I can't get those Big-Tits outta my mind.. Similar Products Used: Driving Range is OK. |

About the best public course in Austin. Country club feel, and price. Beautiful course that winds through the woods. You never see another hole so you feel alone in the woods, which is nice. Great greens, maintenance and tees. Nice practice facilities too. Get some coupons and go often. The nicest landscaping I've seen at a public course. I hope it does not go private. Customer Service Tee times are easy as the price keeps most at the munis. Similar Products Used: Great range and three putting greens. Good for chipping. |
