Shoots in the 80s
The home course. The greens are fast and true. Bluebonnet is home ofthe 4 hour round and they mean it. If the marshalls tell you catch up and you don't you will skip a hole. The fairways are faster than a lot of greens in the Greater Austin Area and some of them are right on top of each other. Excellent driving range and practice area. Customer Service Good, just a small selection. |

Shoots in the 100s
Nice course. Never played there before. Will certainly add this to my frequent places to play. Chilly day today. Wet hard greens...6 out of 18 fairways today...thats my best so far...(hey, ive only been at it for about 6 mos). Lots of green on this course for it being winter time. Been to alot of course around austin/georgetown area...not the case up there. Customer Service People were friendly, coffee was fresh and hot this morning....what else do ya need?? Shoots in the 80s
I have played this course since it opened in 1991. I know the staff and the staff knows me by name. I know the course like the lines on my face. They have the friendliest staff in Central Texas. Bluebonnet's two claims: fast, fair, and "true" greens (Tifdwarf), and a low tolerance for slow play, and therefore a "promised" 4 hour round of golf. I played the course a few days ago (April 2004) and for the first time EVER I was very disappointed in the quality of the greens. I think it was a fungus of some sort, and I have seen it at other local courses. (BTW: the best conditioned greens I have seen for the low cost end are Jimmy Clay and Riverside). The basics: Bluebonnet is short, not too tight, but it should be called "Windy Hill" because of the prevailing north or south winds. In fact, this course should have two scorecards -- a winter wind card -- hitting into it on number 8, and a spring/summer card -- downwind on number 8 (for example)-- because the course plays differently on different days. The second thing: if you hit it in in the rough, you may have to deal with a rocky lie. Third: the course is pretty short -- especially from the whites -- and holes 1-6 give you a great opportunity for birds. The backside is tougher - longer par 3s and water on three of the holes -make the difference, but the other signature hole besides the par 3 seventeenth - is number 12, a downhill par five of only 488 yds. is a bonafide eagle hole. You can see the entire hole in front of you. A very memorable hole. If you can catch this course on a windless day -- a rarity indeed -- it can be had. Customer Service 5-Star. Food could be better. Shoot in the 90s
Nice public course. I really enjoyed the view of the lake from the driving range. Beautiful, but windy. Nice practice facilities and a nice wide open course. There is not much room between the fairways so you can put alot of balls in the short grass somewhere. Nicely maintained and not to expensive (about $20.00 to walk). Very playable course with not too much sand or water. Similar Products Used: Love the driving range. |

Shoot in the 80s
Bluebonnet is a fun course to play for all levels of golfers. Wide fairways and a mixture of shots required make it a challenge. It's not too long or hard to score but minor mistakes will make your score go up and your feelings get hurt. The wind can be a factor on several holes .....both good and bad. Customer Service Staff is outstanding and really helpful in every way. Similar Products Used: Great driving range and putting green...tops in the area. |
