H. Lakes is a good course to play won't find one better that is played this much. I played the great blue (May 08). Greens are very well keps along with the fairways.

On the Great Blue if miss the fairway good luck finding your ball. Many challenging shots await any player(s)

Tiger Woods holds the course record (according the one of the starters)in the low 60's from the Black Tees of course.

Driving range is ok, course can get real busy. Not bad for the price and if you can find a coupon it's even better.

Heron Lakes is actually two distinct courses. The Greenback is the easier and more popular of the two; it is supposedly the most heavily played course in Portland. The Greenback is a fairly forgiving layout with several fun holes and only a few significant challenges. Considering the heavy play it gets, it is generally in good condition. In summer the Greenback greens are as fast as you're likely to find. The tougher course is the Great Blue. It has more water in play and far more bunkers, and is a more challenging layout -- e.g., longer holes and narrower fairways. Choose the Greenback if you want forgiveness and some fun, choose the Great Blue for a challenge. Either course is a good value. Neither course drains very well, so there are better choices during Portland's long rainy season. The driving range is large and you hit off grass, not mats; the clubhouse is small and nothing to write home about.

Customer Service

Generally friendly staff who are prompt and attentive. Weekends in the summer you can count on seeing cart service once or twice during your round.
