Shoots in the 90s
course benefits only by comparison to other public courses on the peninsula. fairways are generally wide, but this is very much a target course. the fairways have so much slope that on some it is nearly impossible to be in them, and if you land on the wrong side of the fairway you could easily go OB. On 6, which is the "signature" hole, I hit a fade into the right edge of the fairway, but the slope is so severe that the ball rolled all the way across and into the left rough.

I unfortunately visited this course after it had been raining. Every drive plugged and I must have lost a dozen balls or more. Very frustrating but ... oh well. The deer comment is dead on. I mean they were everywhere. Tee boxes, greens, you name it they were there + dumping all over the place. I thought the course was interesting + some difficult small greens. Except for the rain and the deer, I think this course is in pretty decent shape overall. The back nine is definitley more of a challenge. Price was kind of high in my opinion, but I guess that's SF for you. Views of the reserve canyon and lake was nice Customer Service Fine. Nothing went wrong. Similar Products Used: Range is ok. |

I have played the course for over 10 years and have mixed feelings about this course. For me it's close to home and has spectacular views of the coastal mountains and Cystal Springs Watershed space. Holes 1-16 are very fun to play as they are each unique. Holes 17 and 18 are ok, pretty much the same shots. There has been much effort at improving the drainage at this course and the improvements are finally starting to show on the fairways. Recently, new tee boxes have been added at holes 8 and 9 which has change they way they are played. Although, there are two things that would more than an above average course. First, there are waaaaay too many deer roaming the course. I have seen at times groups of up to 20 deer sitting in the fairway. The deer are the reason that the greens are in such bad shape. They run across the green leaving deep marks in the grass. I say reintroduce the mountain lion... would help balance the population. The second item is that the City of San Francisco owns the course and the money made from the operation gets put into the cities general fund which means the golf course never sees any of it. So much for major improvements.. will have to be satisfied with the little ones they have made. On second thought, go play somewhere in the south bay... I do want you taking my tee time! |

Terrible. Absolutely overpriced. The front nine is decent but after having worked on this course for over three years it is in terrible shape. The drainage is bad, still. The greens are a bit rough depending on the hole. Very hilly represents a challenge for maintenance but that is no excuse. THe views are outstanding but if I wanted to pay this much I would simply go take my car on Skyline for 1/50th of the price. The tee boxes are in poor shape too. Similar Products Used: NA |
