The course boasts a wonderful collection of par fives and threes that speak volumes of Jack Nicklaus' ability to design strategic golf holes without over-using certain strategies. The fifth hole, a 498 yard par five, is fronted by a small pond which gives a player a great opportunity for eagle, while bringing a bogey or double into the picture. The 14th measures 533 and plays slightly uphill with nothing but fairway, rough and trees up to the 100 yard marker. From there the player faces nine well positioned bunkers that make this hole a real challenge. The par three 12th is 191 from the back tee and plays to a large island green with multiple pin positions which can vary the difficulty of the hole dramatically.

If there is one weakness of the golf course, it would be the fact that the greens are exceptionally flat. Even though the Barrington maintenance crew provides beatifully fast putting surfaces, you probably will never face a real scary putt anywhere on the course.

Barrington Golf Club is a Jack Nicklaus Signature design that opened for play in the fall of 1993. Barrington has played host to several prestigious events such as the US Mid-Amateur Qualifying, Westfield Junior Qualifying and several Northern Ohio PGA Section events. Barrington will host the 2004 Ohio Open Championship as well. Barrington is a championship golf course that measures 7138 from that back tees at a par 72. Jack Nicklaus did a wonderful job in designing a very beautiful, interesting and challenging golf course which excites both high handicappers and scratch players alike. The golf course offers a great balance of right-to-left and left-to-right holes, along with varying lengths of par threes, fours and fives. The course also provides a variety of hazards, without focussing on one in particular. There is strategic use of water, sand and natural hazards throughout the 230 acre piece of property. Barrington is a true hidden gem for those who are looking for a world class golf experience in a peaceful, wooded section of Northeast Ohio.
