The overall conditions at Rivers Edge were deplorable. From tee to green and even the driving range was shoddy. There is clearly not enough money going into the upkeep to make this nice layout worth coming back to. Greens were awful. Customer Service Very nice people all around. |

Played 18 and just had to head back out and play it again, even in 97 degree weather. Best course I have ever played. Beautiful scenery coupled with a thinking man's course. Left the driver in the bag for this one and focused on scoring and had a blast. Otherwise, I could have easily lost all the balls in my bag and had a frustrating day. Ditto the comments below about the par 5 9th hole, fantastic hole bordered by wetlands. Absolutely hilarious to look at all the balls in the marsh surrounding the green. Hot weather meant the fairways were running like mad, but everything was in tremendous shape, greens were excellent. Could not have been a better experience. My review is based on my round and I can see why this course is rated high but to have 30 people waiting to tee off on the first hole is unacceptable. We played in July 2007 and the greens were in terrible shape, I guess this is the reason for the reduced rate. #6 green was bald. During our round the maintenance crew would drive up to the green and start watering while you were hitting. This caused the greens to react different during the round. With the backlog of people you would wait 20mins after each shot.
Customer Service Asked about the backlog of people but nothig was done, should have had people tee off on #10. No one was on the back nine. Similar Products Used: Barefoot resort courses, much better |

6+ hour round due to traffic jam at first tee and no one using the drop area. People when you hit into the marsh you will not find the ball. We had to wait 20mins after each shot because of this. The greens were in bad shape. I guess due to the hot weather the bent grass greens are not able to handle the heat. During the round on several holes a member of the staff would drive up to the green and start watering during play. Each green would play different because of this. Also alot of bald spots were on the green. The layout is very nice but I would not replay this course. Customer Service OK but didn't try to speed up round. Similar Products Used: Arrowhead, greens were bad too. Bent grass is not a good choice in this area for the summer time. |

As we made it to the first tee there were at least 20 people waiting to tee off. I knew this wasn't going to be a good day. I don't know why they didn't allow anyone to start on #10 with no one on the back nine. Started 30mins after scheduled tee time but hey we were playing one of the best courses so we didn't let it bother us. To some up our round we had to wait 20mins after each shot due to the back log of people and everyone looking for their ball in the marsh/trees. This is not an easy course, alot of marsh land. This affected play speed. During the round several times maintenance guys were taking temps of the greens and watering every green several times during the round leaving the greens to putt different on every hole. This appears to be a problem for all bent grass courses in the area during the summer. This is why TPC and Caledonia changed to Tifeagle. I would give it another shot during the spring or fall but avoid during the summer and tee off early to avoid a 6+ hour round. conditions were average to below average due to green conditions and wet areas around greens. Customer Service OK, tried to get a rain check due to the slow play but didn't think it was a problem. It seems slow play is normal here. Similar Products Used: First one in Myrtle Beach |

This may be my favorite course in 20 years of golf. The scenery is beautiful and the course is very challanging. One hole in particular, number 9, ate me alive. Even though my score wasn't the greatest, this was a very fun course to play. Anyone who plays the Myrtle Beach area has to visit Rivers Edge at least once! Customer Service Very good |
