Not a bad golf experience to be had in all of Pinehurst.1,3,5,6 are all as good or better than most people get to play. If not better designs, then better conditioned. 4,7,8 are all great examples
of modern golf courses. Nice designs, nice mix of hazzards, near perfect conditions. #2 is very close to the perfect golf course. Lots of room to drive the ball, perfect conditions, beautiful green complexes, and very diffucult greens. Many design elements from most Donald Ross courses come from Scotland, his early home land. You can find dozens of his courses all over the US. You can also find a handful in Pinehurst, where Ross spent much of his adult life.

This is the most OVER RATED golf course in the WORLD. To be ranked in the top 5 in the world give me a break. History is one thing and a great golf course is another. This place falls in the history catagory not great golf. There is nothing to the course except for the really tricky green complexes. If anyone today was to design a course with the greens like at #2 they would be sent packing and out of the design business for sure. But since this place has history it is ok for the greens to be almost unfair. I paid $390.00 to play this course and could shoot myself in the head for doing it. I shot 79 so its not like I played bad and I am pissed at the course. It really is just a middle of the road design. Ok so they had the open there a couple of times, so what. I have played golf all over the country and at some pretty well known courses like Sawgrass, Baltrostal, Pebble Beach, Bulle Rock, Doral, Congressional and RTJ (where they play the Presidents cup) to name a few. Pinehurst #2 does not even hold up against any of these courses.

If you are a history buff then this place is for you. If you are like me a true golf nut who could care less about history and who played there before, then I would play Pinehurst# 4,7,8 anyday over #2 and pay more money to play them if need be. Better yet Play Mid South down the street. Best course in Pinehurst area along with Pine Needles. Hands down. Although #4 and 8 at Pinehurst are pretty darn good.

I am sure people will disagree with my opinion because they have been brainwashed into thinking that Pinhurst# 2 is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I was brainwashed too until I experianced it for myself. It was ok to play once I guess to say I did it, but never again if they are still charging $390.00 a round.

Customer Service

A+ they do treat you well at Pinehurst. But they should for $390.00 a round not including Caddie. What a rip off. I am still mad at myself a year later for paying them that much.

To many to mention. The course does not stand out to me. It looks like every other cousre except for those greens.

Pinehurst #2-Goofy golf at its best. After watching this years US Open and recalling how they lambasted Shinnecock Hills last year, I was suprised they did not do the same for this course. Seeing pros hit great shots only to see them roll off the green in my mind would drive me to a funny farm. This course will not make me to do list.

Course #1. Not too impressed with this course. I have played #6 and #7, and this does not compare. Short and straight for the most part. The course was in good shape but not much of a challenge.

#3 - The course had just been aerated so the greens were bumpy. The cost was the same, though. For the money, the course wasn't in good shape - many bare spots on on the fairways, carts had damaged high traffic areas, sand was splashed out of bunkers by the tractor that raked them. However, it's a neat course, short but with interesting holes and greens that seemed to be miniature versions of those on #2. It's a fun course and you shouldn't let the length (less than 6000 yards) discourage you from playing it. Play early or late when it isn't crowded and the shadows show the great contours.

Customer Service

Easy to make tee times although you may not get your first choice.
