A MUST PLAY FOR ONE REASON: READ ON My favorite "let's play somewhere different" course. It truly has character. This is a great mid to high handicappers course. Reachable par5s and short but tight par 3s that punish the wayward short iron. But the signature hole is worth the drive and green/cart fee. The par 5 14th is simply an amazing golf hole. IGNORE the signs and follow the cart path all the way to the top tee box, which sits 100 feet above the fairway and just listen to the Haw River roar by to your right for about 20 seconds until someone in your group will invariably say, "Bet you can't drive it across the river!" Take the extra 45 seconds and give it a try, most people do. The best part about this hole is that it's a birdie hole with a good drive. The rest of the course features a lot of elevation changes and smallish challenging greens. Staff is friendly and watch out for the dog that will hop in your cart when you're not looking!!

Putting green is usually hairy, but they have a great practice game there with 1/2 sized holes to shore up that lose stroke. Amazing how hard a 1 foot putt is then the hole is that small. Try it and s

A decent course, not overly challenging. I have all 3 of my lifetime lowest rounds here. 2 of the 3 par 5's are easily reachable by me, an average-length hitter, and the third (the 15th) can be hit in two if you drive into the parallel fairway, cutting a lot of distance off the dogleg (it's up to you if you think this is cheating or not - LPGA players do it routinely.) Fairways are generous. Greens are sometimes decent, but quite often are average at best. This is not a bad course, but in my opinion, Indian Valley is a better option: they are similar in most respects, but Indian Valley is cheaper.
