Shoots in the 70s
I really expected not to like this course but I have to say it was really a strong test of golf. I played this course only once, recently in a sectional qualifying tournament for an amateur event. The course is known for its greens and I can tell you that I have played golf all over the world and these are some of the toughest and best greens i have ever played! They are very fast and have incredible undulation. You have to be on the right portion of the greens on a number of holes or you are guaranteed a 3 putt (at least). Greens that I found really interesting were the #1,7,8,9,16,17,18. The other factor is the wind (at least when I played) the course sits somewhat nearby the long island sound on the northern portion of the island. The wind swirled all day making this relatively short course difficult. All in all a very enjoyable course to play a couple of times if you really want to challenge your putter and short game. The course is hilly and difficult to walk and I cannot imagine playing it as my home course (I would be in great shape) but this course is a hidden gem in my view. The course is well laid out and very interesting to play constantly challenging you to play a variety of shots in and around the greens. A number of blind shots on the backside. All in all I recommed playing it. You will know the meaning of tough greens after playing it.
