Copake is a nice, out-of-the-way course in Columbia County with some gorgeous views of both Copake Lake and the Catskill mountains. It is not a particualry long course, wth 3/4 par fours less than 300 yards, and it has very wide, generous fairways and rough. It is hilly with elevation changes on just about every hole, so much so that walking would be quite difficult.Be sure to take a cart. The course challenge would be the slope of the greens. They are slick and not at all easy to read. Don't be suprised to see your ball break one way when you thought it would go the other, or see it snap right off the green with what you thought would be a small break. Stay focused! The 18th green is particularly severe. Being hilly, prepare for uneven lies. Nonetheless it is a well-maintained course and a fun round. Normal greens fees of $38 but on EZlinks you can get a round for $20.

Club house is rather small.........

Copake Lake Country Club is a nice golf course. The layout is beautiful, but very difficult at times. Many of the holes on the fromt nine demand a lot distance from the golfer, and many off the greens are hard to hold, although they are in great shape. The tee boxes are kept in very good condition, and the course is groomed very nicely. A great 18 hole course, but a bit difficult at times.........
