Played the links style east course. I breezed through until the last two holes.
Customer Service Nice cart girl, ranger was never seen. Starter and other personel were very helpful. Nice clubhouse. A bit pricey, though Similar Products Used: Makefield in Pa. |

An excellent public course with an almost country-club feeling: new, spacious clubhouse with clean, friendly facilities, a large grass-only range and short game practice area, a long road leading to the clubhouse and a nice restaurant/"19th hole" with decent food and drinks. There are two courses here: the "old course" (known as Mercer Oaks) and the "new course" (known as Mercer Oaks East or the "East Course". As for the old course, the layout is mostly flat with relatively wide fairways lined by woods with high trees and leaf-covered ground - it's easy to lose balls. Fairways are mostly flat, with the occasional odd lie, but quite lush when conditions permit. Greens can be a bit rough depending on the season, but mostly large and flat, with occasional unusual pin placements. Bunkers and hazards are reasonable, with perhaps the exception of the par-5 15th hole, which has lots of bunkers in front of the green and demands either a layup or a nice floating mid-wood or long iron to the green. Course conditions vary according to climate: in dry, hot summers, the fairways can bake to a brown crispy quality, a product of the lack of ample irrigation (despite a large lake nearby). In wet seasons, the course can be lush and perfect. A links-like feel dominates, with thick hay and dry grass of calf (or sometimes knee) height lining many holes. The 9th hole approach over water is overrated and not too difficult (but intimidating to some), while the 17th hole (the "signature hole") is quite interesting, with water lining the right side (large lake) and an approach over water to the green, but not very difficult as the fairway slopes downward and you can get a fair amount of run from a good drive. Other notable holes are 3 (long par 4) and 6 (same) where shorter drivers will be penalized, and 14, with an extreme 80 degree dogleg (really a complete turn) to the right tempting many to hit driver over the trees, often leading them into the bunkers guarding the fairways or the weeds to the right (or worse, long and straight into the woods). As for the "East Course", it is a full-fledged flat links-style course with high grass and hay-lined fairways which undulate. Greens are large but unusual, with big slopes. No water. 17th hole fairway is very narrow and a difficult driving hole. Par-5 18th is 600+ yards from the back - a tough finishing hole. |

Wow, what a great course. Nothing bad. The course is what a municipal course should be. Great Layout, tough holes, and always a good time. The course is always kept in great shape, and has some pretty fun a challenging holes as well. The Par 4 6th hole is huge 420 yards from the men's white tees, and the par 4 9th has a pretty interesting aproach, (it's over a lake to an al most "island" green). ON the par 3 16th the wind sweeps of serene Lake Mercer to give a surprisingly tough tee shot. The signature hole, the par 4 17th has water all down the right side and is just beautiful. The course is also a terrific bargain... $18 for a resident and only $32 for an out of area player. I have thought about joining private clubs in the past, but this course is jast as good as private courses. Customer Service very good Similar Products Used: everything |

Driving up the driveway into this course you would think it is a private Country Club. The course is keft extremely clean and well grromed. They just built a brand new Clubhouse and Bar and Grill. The course is terrific. Pretty long with some pretty tricky holes. Once you play the course once you get a better idea of where to use an iron off the tees. Water only really comes into play on two holes but BOY does it coe into play on those holes. All in all a really great public course. Similar Products Used: None |

Greens are as good as they get here for a public course. The layout is fanatastic for a link style course. Wide open easy to play but some tough holes, especially Par-3 16th and the Par-4 17th over water. In the front, 9th hole is beautiful and is a good challenge. The toughest is probably the Par-4 6th hole which plays over 450 yards from Blues. Once you play this course for the 1st time, I promise you will fall in love with it!
