Great course, especially for the matinee price! Water seldom comes into play. Only open on about three holes and the rest is tree challenged. Good variety of hole configurations. Greens in good shape for the most part. Except for some overgrowth in the second cut, the grooming was well done. One thing to keep in mind: the deerflies are the worst I've seen at any course.
Customer Service Good, friendly proshop guy. No frills. Similar Products Used: Golden Pheasant, but much cheaper. |

Played on an overcast Friday afternoon and enjoyed the round for the most part. The positives: A.$15 riding, how do you beat that! B. Greens in good shape, proshop attendant says they have been upgrading them. C. Fairways are cut and for the most part maintained. D. Quick round: no one behind me and except for a sudden appearance of a foursome on 18, no one was ahead of me. E. Well drained, even with wet conditions over two days. F. Water does not come into play despite the river next to the course.
Customer Service Friendly proshop people. Descent dining hall. No rangers, but there were course attendants. Water is supplied and cool. Similar Products Used: One of the best courses for the price range. Beats Springfiled and Kresson is not even in the same league. |

The last couple reviews were right on. Lay-out wise, I think this is one of the best courses I've ever played in New Jersey, and I played high school golf in the Cape-Atlantic league so I've played almost all of those top courses down by the shore. Unfortunately, the course's previous owners (a year or two ago, it was sold) let the course go and its' quality has plummeted. Hopefully, the new owners are saving up some money to overhaul the grass. Another thing I think should be noted about this course is how it is basically divided into two nine hole courses. The front nine is very open with a couple nice views but wind plays a huge factor some days. The back nine however, is completely opposite. It's very tight and even on the windiest days it won't be much of a factor, what the back nine requires is accuracy plain and simple. A single offline shot on the back could result in a very big score. Despite some of the negatives I have touched on, I certainly recommend this course to anyone in the area. One further note, you'll see below that I've rated the putting as the most difficult; that is simply because they are in such bad shape that it's virtually impossible to hold a 6+ inch putt on line. Customer Service The people here are pretty nice, but don't expect anyone waiting to clean your clubs or a beverage cart. This course has great holes. The front nine is very good. I look foreward to playing there every year. I just wish they would keep it in better shape. Customer Service good, lets us replay very cheap Similar Products Used: clean up the old pool area. |

I finally got the chance to play this course, after driving by it a thousand times. I loved the layout. The views of the river were cool. The wind coming of it added to the play. It is maintained OK, for the money, but don't expect Pine Valley. It's a fun course, but I wouldn't advise walking. If you're a low handicapper you probably won't be tested, but you will enjoy the layout. It's another typical course that needs an invester to fix up the course. It's worth the 40 mile drive I made, and would only get better with a fix up. Customer Service Very good. The girl at the bar was fun to chat with, and she has a strong knowledge of the course history. Similar Products Used: Practice green OK. Needs flags for the holes. |

Cohanzick Country Club is a medium priced course with a layout that is uninspired. Too many holes crisscross ravines with a predictable pattern of sameness. The course is not well mantained and in the middle of the season is often burned out. Some scenic beauty prevails with about four holes in view of the Maurice River. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The restaurant facilities are plain, but offer good food for a reasonable price. This is a weekend golfer's course, and not challenging enough for a low handicapper. Overall rating "C". Customer Service Customer Service is excellent;the best part about this course.
