Shoots in the 80s

Nice hillside and wooded location with some pretty holes. A little short and not particularly challenging, when played from the back. Tee boxes are dreadful, although fairways and greens are ok for a muni course.

Customer Service

Worst experience I have ever had in 40 years of playing golf. Called in the morning and told to come over, the course was wide open. Showed up, paid for 3 greens fees and went off. Got to the back nine and told it was closed for aerating. Was never told at any point until then that the back nine was closed - and, no signs or notices up - very decpetive. Asked for a refund at the pro shop and told 'no' by the two kids working there. Dave, the starter, shows up and helpfully tells me I can play 18, 'go play the front 9 again'. Very rude and condescending. Spoke to Ken the pro the next day who says I should have just taken a refund or raincheck. Also said I should have read their website before I came ?!Gosh Ken, I asked for a refund which was rejected and your staff never offered me a rain check...guess its my fault. I now know why Dave can behave so rudely! Anyway, only got a refund after demanding it and saying I was going to post reviews on websites...yeesh!! Drove the 45 minutes home, never to return. Owners better take a hard look at how they treat paying guests.

Bretwood and Shattuck. Both are in the area, terrific layouts, far better maintained and very friendly to paying guests.

Shoots in the 80s

Crotched Mtn Resort (formerly Tory Pines) is an underrated gem of a golf course in my opinion. I have played at the course on two different occasions. In 2001 when it was Tory Pines and in 2008 with the new owners of Crotched Mtn. If you are a golf snob and you are into perfectly manicured fairways and tee boxes this course may turn you off a bit. The conditions are average. Some tee boxes are not perfectly level but overall the course is usually in pretty good shape. To be challenged you should play this course from the blue tees. This course is no pushover. It will test your game. A few of the holes on the front and back nine are absolutely breathtaking when you stand on the tee box. Some really beautiful scenic holes on this course. The course has the rustic charm of most courses in NH and does not try to be something it is not. If you want to stay and play they do have very good deals are and are reconstructing condo's on the property. The only warning I have is there are not of stores, restaurants, shops etc. in this area. It is really in the middle of nowhere. Bring a good attitude and an open mind and you will really enjoy this course. The only reason I gave it 3 stars for value is the conditions are not what I consdider to be a high end golf course but overall the conditions are fine.

Customer Service
