If it wasn't for the location, I'd rate this in the top ten courses I've played. Conveniently located right on the strip, but OMG!!! Planes, Trains and Automobiles!!
It's right at the end of one of McCarron's runways, and I think there must have been 400 planes take off right over our heads. It's crammed between the strip on one side and I15 on the other, with a railway along the south edge, and you get to experience them all during the round.

Now the course itself is spectacular. Lots of challenging holes, some beautiful water features, greens in excellent shape with lots of contours. Plenty of length, 6700 yards from the gold tees, and six par fours playing 425+ yards, several of them uphill into a stiff breeze on the day we played. A great course to think your way around. Par fives require a strategy to place your second shot, no whaling away with a three wood here. Great variety on the par threes, everything from 110 yards to 220 yards.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, but probably won't go back, due to the never ending roar of jets overhead, highway and train noise. Not what I'd call a relaxing round of golf. Challenging, yes. Variety yes. Great condition yes. But I like to hear the birds when I play golf. The feathered kind, not the Southwest/USAir variety

Customer Service

Outstanding. We played as a group, and the course staff did everything to make sure we got around before dark. Course marshals were friendly, the cart girls were friendly, pro shop staff were great, everything was first class.

A beautiful golf course located on the south end of "The Strip." As the name implies, there is a South Pacific theme to this layout. Lots of white sand. The location is perfect.

The fairways are a little tight, so you may find yourself hitting irons and fairways woods more often. The local rules do not allow your to play an errant shot from the sand off the fairways, so you have to treat it as a lateral hazard...hence another reason for more irons and fairway woods. Some of the fairways have small streams that border them. All of the holes have nicknames which is kind of cool. The greens are in good condition. If you are playing on a windy day club selection is critical as many off the greens are elevated and requier an additional club anyway. One local that I played with advised me to add two clubs when in doubt...and he was correct!

Now the bad news. the price of the beautiful course is huge. I would recommend playing it in June and dealing with the heat rather than in April when the cost is truly ridicules. I know that location counts for a lot, but gimme a break here.

Lastly, there is a good restaurant/bar attached that is very upscale, and the pro shop stocks everthing you will ned for your round. There is no driving range per say, as there is precious little room on the strip to put one. But, they do have a covered area for you to hit balls into a net off of mats with an automated tee placement.

If you have a good night at the craps table, treat yourself and your buddies to a round. If you have a bad night, play it anyway, and stay out of the casinos!
