Played May 24th weekend for my first time. Everyone in our group pumped us up about this course but their experience was from 5 years ago. Now I would say it's nothing special, average at best. Not worth the drive, go play elsewhere. If the staff was friendly I would return but it was not good, just like an earlier post. After all the hype I was very dissapointed. Customer Service Not very receptive or very friendly. This was a common comment from a group of 24 golfers. Similar Products Used: The Loon, The Nightmare, The Legend, Cedar River. AWESOME people and much better courses. |

Rudest staff I have ever come accross. I would strongly suggest taking your business and money elsewhere. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. Great Northern Michigan Golf, very scenic. Excellent condition. Tight fairways, bring a lot of balls if you hack because you will be in the woods a lot.
Customer Service Great, no problems. |

This is a very nice golf course - well manicured and a beautiful place. However, I wasn't impressed with the layout. This was one of four courses we played on our trip to Northern Michigan (the others being Treetops Signature, Black Lake, and Red Hawk). Most of our group were disappointed in Elk Ridge. There are way too many forced layups on the front nine that really ruin the course Similar Products Used: Black Lake, Red Hawk, Treetops Signature |

I'm from Albuquerque, NM & have played this course twice intournament play. It is the best golf course that I have played in the Gayord area. It is worth the 45 minute drive from Gaylord. It is a tough but fair golf course - lots of challenges. Greens are not tricked up. Just bring your 'A' game.... |

I played here a few years ago with my brothers. Elk Ridge is very well maintained. The fairways are nicer than some greens around my home. Very scenic golf course. Lots of woods, water, and wildlife. Greens were in excellent condition. Overall I enjoyed my experience there. Customer Service Proshop and grill were great. Rangers were not. Similar Products Used: Free range balls were a nice idea. |

This golf course is quite simply the finest experience that I've ever had the chance to play. It's immaculately conditiioned with true and fast greens. It played fairly long from the blue tees at 6,600+ since you don't get much roll and the greens are elevated. It is a thinker's course though too as there are many doglegs and double/triple bogies are lurking on nearly every hole if you hit a semi-errant shot. Good shots are definitely rewarded as they should be when hit. There are some splendid views of Lake Valentine on #3 & #5. I would not say that the course is unfair, but it will "eat you alive" if you are not striking the ball well. You won't be scrambling for pars out of the woods or marsh areas. The ham sandwiches from Honey Baked Ham are great at the turn. We play 36 holes for $100 every summer and it is well worth it for the challenge, beauty and service. Customer Service We are treated with courtesy and respect every time we have visited the course. Similar Products Used: As I said earlier the proshop and grill are excellent. The driving range facility is average/good. |

This is a beautiful and challanging course. Every tee, fairway and green is maintained in great condition. The course is very tight and it demands that you hit a staight ball off the tee because almost every hole is tree-lined. The people are very friendly and it's a lot of fun. What a great course in the middle of Northern Michigan right near...nowhere. This is an absolutely beautiful course that has always been in impeccable condition. Even the enormous elk hoof prints smoothed and sanded off the greens early in the morning. (Still hoping to see one of those monsters.) Have made a mecca to this area every fall for the past 8 years, and most years have included a trip to this beauty. A real challenge. Lots of dog legs. Narrower fairways lined with trees.
