This course plays pretty short from the whites (~5700 yds). But if you want more of a challenge, they have blue and black tees that play longer. The course is pretty scenic. During peak times, its a little pricey for me. But hey, it is prime land in Howard County, so I guess that is why. But like most courses, if you play off peak and walk, you can get good deals. One thing I don't like about the course is all the forced carries. This is the course I always loose the most balls at. If you can carry the forced carries, the course plays pretty easy. If your duffing your drives, forget about it. Most holes with forced carries off the tee-box have drop zones on the other side. The fairways are bent grass (not my favorite). The course can definitely get soggy after it rains. I prefer the back nine, there are some very scenic holes with large elevation changes. Yardages are pretty well marked. The tee boxes are in good shape. Some of the bunkers are in good shape, some are not.
Customer Service I've never had a problem with customer service. They seem friendly at the front desk. The cart girls are very friendly. |

I used to enjoy playing Timbers 20x a year. It is a good course with well maintained fairways, but has average greens and absolutly terrible bunkers. I didnt mind this too much as I would play 9 after work twice a week and stayed clear of traps anyway. A lot of times bunkers were unplayable due to rocks and mud. The complaint my friends had when I took them there on weekends was cost compared to just as well maintaned courses in the area, which leads me to why I will never play there again in the customer service section of this review. Customer Service The new GM thinks he's got a snobby private course to run. The cancel policy is $25 per no show with no exceptions if you do not cancel 24hrs in advance. So a 20x/yr cust couldnt get a break for a medical emergency. No other course in the area(just as nice, less expensive)has this type of policy. Similar Products Used: Too many to put up with crap! |

I play Timbers several times each year and really enjoy the layout. It has a little of everything. Some holes have open tee shots, but demanding approach shots like the dogleg, par-5 second. Some holes have forced-carry (including #3, #5, & #16) and others have significant elevation changes (#9, #14, & #18). Timbers is a beautiful course that demands accuracy but not a lot of distance (only 6,652 from the tips). The bentgrass fairways are in great shape, but they are maintained on the wet, soft side.....so you must hit your irons cleanly (ball first) to be consistent. They have at times also struggled maintaining a consistent quality to the greens which are average speed and could use a good rolling, but I will keep them on my list. Customer Service Typically good and I haven't had any bad experiences. Similar Products Used: Needwood |

Timbers at Troy is a nice design but be on your game if you play here. Environmental areas are very challenging. I didn't like the fairway grass but the greens are nice. Good quality sand which you don't often find in public courses. Customer Service Outstanding Similar Products Used: Good snack bar and club house. |

pretty good layout, short and tight most of the round, not too fast but above average green speeds, a few holes have bad spots on the greens and a few golfers apparently like to drag their feet near the hole, the ball usually rolled true, the greens firmness was medium, some shots released some stoped and some sucked back, the fairways are nice and not patchy at all, the rough is 2-4 inches and trees are everywhere, the tees were fine, as much as you can ask for with a public golf course, and the course is still very young and hasnt matured much yet, for this area unless you can afford and find your way onto caves or woodholme CC and comparing it to places like that its as good as you get for the money around here as far as conditions Customer Service the starters were friendly, the round took about 4.5 hours which is not a good thing, but with a public course it could have been 5.5 hours Similar Products Used: None |

GREENS OK BUT THEY DO NOT CUT THEM OFTEN ENOUGH WHICH CAN BE FRUSTRATING. FOR A PUBLIC COURSE THEY KEEP THE COURSE IN REAL GOOD SHAPE. Similar Products Used: RANGE IS ACCEPTABLE. |
