Shoots in the 80s

You cross 4 lane roads, row houses line one fairway, and they had to route one hole around an ice rink. Yet I still like this course. It has a lot of variety. Long and short par 4's, dramatic and scary par 3's. A fine test.

Shoot in the 70s

I have played this course many times over the years because I have family in the area. This course used to host the Eastern Open in the 40s, 50s, and early 60s. A lot of history here including Jack and Arnie stories. Ask the old guys. I love this course. I spend a lot of money on golf and enjoy the better courses in the Baltimore/Washingtond area. But sometimes you just want to hit the ball. This course is $19 on weekends, including cart. the fairways and greens are in good shape during the fall, spring and summer. Winter and early spring it is rough. The rough here is municipal rough...meaning there isn't any. This course is long from the Blues. 6950yds I believe. It plays longer because while the par 5s are reachable for a sub 10 handicap, there are few short par 4s. Plus, several Par 4s leave you a long iron out even with a 265 yd driving avg. The greens get very fast (think August at Wakefield Valley) as the season progresses. There are some incredible holes and pin placements for that reason. A par 3 where if you are long it is autobogey. The first hole seems to be an easy par 5 until you get up to the green. If the pin is on the right green you cannot be above the hole. You will putt it into the fairway if it doesn't go in. It is a birdie hole with a good chip up or approach shot to below the hole. There is beautiful Par 3 17th. There is a finishing par 4 and a par 4 number 8 which border on borderline reachable for a long hitter who can hit a high draw. But the penalties for a miscue make it not really worth the effort. Fun as an option though.
