Model Reviewed: Audubon Golf Course

Every once in a while you'll run into a course that you simply love to look at. This course is BEAUTIFULL! After a good 2 hour soaking in a typical New Orleans summer rain storm, this course is ready to play. The designer gets a major A+++ for his artistic eye. Audubon Golf Course litterily went from the worst golf course ever played, to a breathtaking, challenging, masterpeice. You'll get a lot of Iron practice here, being that it is a par 62 executive course. Lots of par 3's with two confident building par 5's and a few short par 4's. Bring those new Irons you just got off E-bay to this course and try them out after you warm up to them at a driving range of your choice. Audubon Golf Course offers a beautifull Bayou surrounding with a lot of modern elevations troughout the fairways and greens. The designer put a lot of thought into bunker placements and water hazard area. Hole number 16 looks harmless enough, par 3, 140 or so yards. If your long, your wet, because the water runs right behind a straight drop from the green. After having to settle for bogey here, Hole number 17, par 3, 195 yards or so, dosen't give you any releif. The entire carry is accross water straight to the green. If you managed a good game up till these 2 holes and haven't faired too well after, Hole number 18 gives you lots of room to take out your frustration on a good, solid drive. The fairway really opens up here, but closes quickly to the hole. Make sure you manage that second shot, your choice will be to go across water to be on in two or settle for the smart lay up in the landing area to the right. I simply love this course and relive the good shots here, over and over again. Hurricane Katrina has done this course a grave unjustice, but it is schedueled to reopen sometime early Nov. of 2005. Please help to support this course and the friendly staff that works there. These guys have done a great job getting this course to look as good as it does. I hope I'm one of the first to play it again. Come on out, you won't be disappointed.

Great course. Has a little bit of everything. The audobon society has given this course a major and much needed face lift. $29 green fee's and $40 for the cart. Probably the nicest public course in New Orleans.

Customer Service

I have not had any, yet.

This historic, public course (1898) has not been perfectly manicured, but it was still an enjoyable afternoon of golf, with a few nice long drives and the occasional jogger hazard (course surrounded by running track). Currently, it is being totally revamped to a par-three course and is closed until 2002. New course will be a speed course with new water hazards and pristine greens and fairways.
