Dumas has definitely improved in the last few years. Making the old front 9 into the back 9 was a great idea. Now you no longer have to worry about the holes next to the road being the first ones you hit from to start your round.
Customer Service Always friendly and even will let you move up your tee time if course is not busy (it usually isn't). Similar Products Used: Howell Park |

The course has gone through a much needed face lift. The back 9 is now the front 9, and they have completely redone the the old front 9 (if that makes any sense.). The portion of the course that they have redone has become much more challenging than it was before. Plus paying approx $14 for a round with a cart cant be beat. I enjoy going there as often as I can. |

DUMAS IS IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE RIGHT NOW. IT WAS TERRIBLE LAST YEAR BUT, THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THE COURSE AND IT'S AS GOOD A COURSE AS YOU CAN FIND FOR $8. Customer Service SOME ARE GOOD AND SOME ARE NOT SO GOOD. |

Dumas is an inexpensive municipal course that gets a lot of traffic. It's not great but then again, it's only $8 to walk. Really stretches the golfing dollar. Especially appreciate the fact that you can start at first light on weekends and holidays (1st come/1st served). I won't belabor the point that the two 9's are vastly different. This course is no pushover-- several of the holes really punish a wayward drive or approach shot. |

This is a good value course. As others have said, $8 isn''t much to pay for a round of golf. The front 9 has improved tremendously in the past 6 months. The back 9 is long, wide open, and has well conditioned greens. As everyone else has said, the back 9 is definitely a different course. I was impressed with the improvements to the conditioning when I played there in early April. It had been since late October since I had played there, so I really took notice that the course had improved. Customer Service Ha! |

No more complaining about the front nine, okay. Holes number one, two, and three do play along major streets, but there's plenty of room to keep the ball in play. However, there are still some dry patches on the front fairways from lack of water and heavy use. The greens on the front nine that had bald/dead areas have been re-done and are much better. Also, the #9 tee-box and landing area around the green have been re-sodded and are much improved. The back is in excellent condition as always and outshines every other BREC facility save Santa Maria. The wide fairways encourage you to let loose whatever driver temptations you had to quell on the front nine. Sparse water hazards on front and back are for decoration and don't come into play unless you're doing something that you shouldn't. Similar Products Used: None |

Well, it's $8 for a round of golf. So, I guess that you get what you pay for. One reviewer said that this was the best BREC course in Baton Rouge (it is to laugh...). Have you ever played Santa Maria? Similar Products Used: Range? Professional? That's amusing... |

Dumas is, in my opinion, the best BREC course in the Baton Rouge Area. They have recently put in some new improvements which have pretty much taken care of every fault which the course had. Although not very challenging, the course delivers a wonderfully diverse 18 holes. The fairways, although usually very dry during droughts, run individually, not back and forth right next to each other, like most public courses in the area. The back nine is beautiful with very well maintained fairways and greens and the finishing par 5 18th is enough to challenge even very skilled golfers. The price is very reasonable at $8 during the week and the staff are friendly and helpful. An extra perk (which may or may not screw you swing up) is the fact that you can hear the lions from the Zoo (which is right through the woods)getting fed from holes 12 and 13. A real treat if you get the chance. Customer Service Very friendly staff Similar Products Used: None |
