Ok Course but staff was horrible. Played there in the summer on 2012 and it was like you were doing them a favor by agreeing to play their course. Typical Troon snobbery!

Ironhorse is a wonderful golf facility. The practice area is awesome - two putting greens, large chipping green, full driving range, and three practice holes. The service at Ironhorse is right up there with any other good public facility I've ever visited. They have a number of full-time teaching pros - Julie Roberts is an accomplished player and teacher, and is viewed by many as one of the better teachers in the KC metro area. Although I love the facility, the course is simply okay in my view. I like the option to hit driver on all par 4s and 5s, and this is simply not possible at Ironhorse, especially if you're not playing all the way back. Hole #7 will allow a long hitter nothing more than a 3 or 4 iron - that's ridiculous. But, this course was designed around a housing development, so what can you expect. The layout has to suffer to some degree. The course is always in good, but not great shape.

A great course! Played it this spring while on a trip to KC and can't wait to go back. Many very interesting holes and makes you use every club.Could play this course several times and it would play different depending on the wind, etc.

Shoot in the 80s

My absolute favorite course. The layout is second to none, and the course is usually in superb condition. Last time I went there, they were re-digging the bunkers around several of the greens, and while this doesn't add to the immediate palatability of the course, it shows a commitment to excellence and to make one of the midwest's finest courses yet another notch above the rest. The greens are usually fairly quick and undulating, however they are fair. There's all types of holes, so the golfer with a complete game will do well out here. The course isn't designed to make you cry, and if you do, it's only because of yourself. It will penalize you on errant shots, but once you play the course a few times, you realize that many of the holes have areas where you can play and mess up and still only cost yourself .25 to .5 strokes.
