Shoots in the 80s
This used to be a very nice golf course. It was well maintained and manicured. The fairways were always green and mowed, greens were fast just like I like them. Then the current owner took over 3 years ago and it has gone downhill ever since. Its really sad to say that the local city owned course is in much better shape. If you can play this course in late spring you will see it at its best. After that, it's all downhill from there. Maybe someone with a PEOPLE PERSON attitude will buy the course from this washed up X PGA PRO, nad bring it back to it's previous glory the course deserves. Similar Products Used: Have played all the local courses in the area. Our group only goes here when we can't get on anywhere else. |

This is a links-style course that is layed out in the sand hills just north of Hutchinson. The course is usually well maintained and in great condition. The zoysia fairways provide a fantastic hitting surface, although they are usually a bit long for my taste and seem to restrict the ball from rolling much. The greens typically run very true, and are rather firm and very fast. My most recent round occurred after a week of rainy weather so the greens were abnormally soft and slow although they still ran very well. The front nine has some very nice holes although it is considered fairly easy compared to the back nine. Several of the front nine holes are fairly bland. The back nine on the other hand has 8 really challenging holes that are nicely laid out. The player only gets a "break" on the par 4 15th, and the tight landing area makes it more challening than it may appear. The back nine requires 2 tee-shots over the weed covered sand hills (that is out-of-bounds) to a blind landing area. The back nine is one of the most challenging I have played, and accuracy is at a premium. It isn't especially long, but quite challenging. The course seems to favor a, high-ball hitter who plays a fade. It is not a long course, but the ability to carry the ball a long distance will improve your chances of scoring well. When the wind blows, as it usually does in Kansas, this course can embarrass you. Rating the difficulty of this course is hard, because the front nine is rather easy while the back nine is very hard. Also, the wind plays a large role in the level of difficulty. The rating below assumes normal (15 - 20 mph) of wind. Customer Service Club-house staff was quite friendly to guests of members. Similar Products Used: The range is quite short, and limited hitting stations exist. Several hitting stations use mats for the hitting surface. Long hitters will likely not be able to hit woods on the range. The resturant/club house are quite nice, and sit on the top of the hill providing a nice view of the course. |
