Grew up in the Kansas City area taking lessons as a kid from the course pro Jeff Johnson. Couldn't have learned from a better staff on a better golf course. Challenging, but wide open. Perfect for intermediate players looking to focus on various aspects of their game. Customer Service The staff at Sunflower Hills has been what kept me coming back for the last 15 years. Friendly and helpful. The lessons I received for three years have definitely been paying dividends toward my current golf game. |

Sunflower Hills is a very nice course with an interesting layout. The course is long and hilly, and eight of the par 4's and 5's are doglegged. The course plays a bit over 7000 yards, and the back nine presents some holes that require steep uphill or downhill lies. The 15th hole is especially difficult -- about 485 yard par four that takes you down a big hill and then up to an elevated green over the final 150 yards -- yet the green is protected by traps. Number eighteen is a problem for short hitters who play the blue tees, because the carry over the pond is over 200 yards. Sunflower Hills reminds me of Eagle Creek Golf Course in Indianapolis and of Reed North in Springfield, Ohio. The greens are large and of medium pace, making chipping and putting reasonably enjoyable. The first six holes are not very hilly, but don't be lulled into complacency -- the rest of the course will tax your climbing skills. The summer weather in KC is hot, so most golfers will want to ride this hilly course -- especially because there are some very long carries between some holes. This is one of my favorite public courses to play anywhere in the US. I think that the layout was well-planned. Customer Service Generally about average for this type of course. People in the shop are friendly. |

The Course is a wonderful place to play! The people who work out there are so nice to you espically Jeff Johnson th ehead golf professional. The course just went under major construction of the fairways, by putting in zoysia. Its still growing but it looks great! If anyone is looking for a good course to play this is it! It is beautiful and challenging! |

I think Sunflower is a great course. Very challenging, yet affordable. Has what was once the toughest par-4 in the area. It's in real good shape right now too. Lotsa big trees and hills. Customer Service Acceptable |
