Weekend golfers will be upset with this course because they won't be able to hit driver on every hole. Course management is the name of the game here. This course is all about placement golf and knowing when to take a par or even, sniff sniff, a bogey. With that said, there are plenty of opportunities for birdies on this course. The layout is one-of-a- kind for this area of the city and it is a new experience each time you play. I play here at least once a week during the summer months. The cost and challenege is well worth it. No matter how many strokes you are down going into #18 you have a chance to beat your friends. What a great finishing hole!

I've played similar courses in Florida that require "target golf."

The course has a variety of strengths, ranging anywhere from nicely cut grass to firm greens that are not too receptive in the heat of the day. IT also makes you think about what club you hit off of every tee, and not just reach for the driver each time. I feel that Mr. Mark Nance as head pro and Mr. Robert Jacobson as the superintendent do a fantasitc job of keeping a municiple course in the middle of a large city a strong and challeneign course.

Holes 10 & 18 are the two things that pop into my head when I think of weaknesses of the course. 10 is just plain stupid, allowing no chance for a person with a fade, myself, or little chance from the tips for a person with a draw for the tree that hangs over there. And when the fairway runs right to the water, even a good drive can still find that much too often seen lake. And for 18. Yes, I do think that a course should have a strong finishing hole whever it is located, but, there is no reason that this hole should be this not only tight, but long. From the tips on number 18, you must be dead straight, or in the lake. Or, in the trees. I feel that when Mr. Liddy designed this course, he ran out of room and just kind of threw the last three holes over there beside the river.

The first time that I played Coffin was the first week of golf qualifying here at Marian. We use Coffin as our home course, and why not, its right down the road. I feel that if you play this course from the tips, you need to bring your A or B+ game. This is a demanding course that keeps getting tougher as the greens firm up from the heat and the rough gets thick from the lack of mow. However, this course does offer some birdie type holes. Take number three for instance. This hole is short, and can be reached with a good poke of a driver, and plays as an easy birdie with a two iron or three off the tee. Or numbers 14 & 15. These are two par 5's that I can reach in two, and that means that I know most of you out there can too. Just play the course smart and you will not have a problem, but just as easy as that is said, numbers 10 & 18 grab you and the day is over.

Too far from Tempe, AZ.

Tim LIDDY did a great job with the layout, you get a little bit of everything. Greens and tee's are above average. The greens are a little tough but playable. The tee shot at hole #5 is a challenge for a hooker. The last par five is short.

Good test for a wide variety of handicaps. Had plenty of hazards to avoid, and decisions about course management.

Greens were slighty slow

Wonderful muni in Indy. Staff was great,course was in mid season form, price was right, and had a good time in less than 4 hours. There were a couple of holes that were a little unfair with forced carries, but overall a good golfing experience. I'd rate it 3 1/2 stars.
