Course length and difficulty were good, and the scenery was so beautiful it was distracting.

Course maintenance.

Played this as part of the Kauai Challenge in August 2003, along with Kauai Lagoons and Poipu Bay. Overall condition of the course was disappointing. There was a lot of fungus on the greens, bare spots, poor drainage on the fairways, grass growing in the traps. The other two courses in the package were outstanding, with Poipu Bay leading the way.

Above average, but not on par with Poipu Bay or Kauai Lagoons. You would expect better from a resort touted as "World class".

Both courses have phenominal layouts, with the challenge nod going to the Prince. Prettiest backdrops you will ever see.

Prince needs some work, greens are not championship caliber.

Played twice in August. First time, they had just sprayed the greens to kill some invasive grasses, and the greens were aweful. Played again 8/22 and they were much better but still extremely slow. If you like self-abuse, play the Prince fromt the back tees. Makaii course is in excellent condition, greens are perfect. The ocean 9 is absolutely stunning.

Great design, wonderful views

It is on the rainy side of Kauai so the weather can be fickle

Played in March 2003 as part of the Kauai Challenge. Also played Kauai Lagoons & Piopu Bay. All my times at each course were taken care of with one phone call. The course was in good shape but a bit soggy from the rain the previous days. A great test of golf from the tips. I would not recommend this course for beginners or high handicap players. It can be very penal. The course was not busy at all and the staff did a very good job taking care of us.

Some challenging holes - some beautiful holes.

Not a value - played other courses on the island that were in better shape and just as challenging.

Just got back (6/25/01)- I was disappointed in the condition of the course. The greens were not that green and maintenance crews could be found all over the course. Less ocean view shots than expected - guess my expectations were too high.

Very well maintained, not too crowded, doting staff. Holes are pretty wide open, but they require you to work the ball. Greens not too fast - typical resort speed. Not as many holes with ocean views as I had expected, but scenic nonetheless. Watch your food when swinging - the roosters are hungry...

if you have died and gone to golf heaven, this is the place. the best of all, views of the ocean and a very challenging course.. you can't believe it until you try it.. i was very impressed..
