SOUTH = This is the most popular side. It has the signature hole over the ocean inlet. Over time, both of these courses will become less interesting since they keep adding condo's along them. All in all, this is a fun course. Always in good condition, and the south has some quirky holes that are fun.
Customer Service Another reviewer is right. The pro-shop staff is a little strange. The starters and course help is great. Similar Products Used: Waikoloa is next door and is a similar experience at a lower cost. (not quite as nice, but similar) |

Mauna Lani South Course
The overall course layout is set up for a good player. Although the course length is rather short if you get a trade wind coming into you on any of the holes the 370 yard par 4 just became a 450 yard par 4. Customer Service The customer service is amazing here. At Mauna Lani they are always looking out for their customers. |

I played the South Course in early August. Honestly, I was slightly disappointed with this course. After you get over the lava rocks "rough", it isn't really that interesting a course. Even the famed 15th hole was a slight let-down. It looked a lot more scenic in photos. However, the fairways and greens were in absolutely perfect condition - the best of all courses I played in Hawaii. One more thing - when the winds pick up, you can count on adding another one to two strokes to each hole unless you are skilled in tackling very windy conditions. Customer Service Patchy. Staff in the pro-shop are somewhat lacking in the Aloha spirit. Starter and cart assistants are good and friendly. |

My favorite course on the big island (Mauna Lani South). absolutely beautiful and tough. Site of the Skins tourneys in the 90's. Very famous water hole--#15. Course was in absolutely perfect shape. Fast perfect greens, beautiful rough and great scenery. Played in July 2003--$75 bucks after 2 and noone was on the course! Customer Service excellent |
