Shoots in the 80s

Played Lakemont today and it rained for the last 5 holes (though we played through, it wasn't too bad). The course was not in very good shape. A lot of yellow fairway grass. Greens were not amazing, but I never felt that any greens keeping problems contributed to bad putts. The back nine had frustratingly little in the way of yardage markers. There is nothing worse that hitting a great drive and then finding it very hard to pin down a correct yardage to the hole.

Customer Service

Service was pretty good. People take care of your bag's at the bag drop, and offer to clean them at the end. My biggest problem was that there was very very little food on the course. The only two "cafe's" were closed, and they only had one food cart with limited crackers and beer covering 36 holes.

Played Stonemont and really liked it. Conditioning was only fair, but it was early in the Spring. Very nice setting.

Customer Service

Excellent.

Shoot in the 80s

I've played Stonemont twice and Lakemont once. I like Stonemont much better. When I played Lakemont the ninth hole was a makeshift par 3 instead of the usual par 5. This made four par 3's on the front nine, so needless to say the course played very short. I wouldn't have a problem with this if they had told me when I booked my tee time. Evidently, this hole has been shut down for quite a while. The back nine was enjoyable.

I played the Lakemont course. Very scenic course in nice shape. Narrow fairways with lots of woods, but the course is fairly short from the middle set of tees. I used a 3-wood off the tees and actually shot pretty well. Staff was very friendly.

Customer Service

Used Atlanta's last-minute tee-time service (http://www.lmtt.com) and got a tee time at a very reasonable price.

Nice Course. There are actually two courses at Stone Mountain, Lakemont and Stonemount. I've only played Lakemont, and the course was in great shape. I played bad, but that was my fault. The front 9 runs alongside of a Lake, while the back 9 is mostly wooded. Drop spots on front were well used, and a very intimidating 1st tee shot. Great course. Very tough greens.

Tough courses, but nice. Should be on top of your game or pretty close to it when playing this course otherwise you will scramble. Course is in good shape. I like Lakemont over Stonemont because of the vistas. Lakemont is also a lot easier. Stonemont is more difficult because of the need for positioning.
