The biggest strength of Southern Links is its great staff. The pro, Andy Pitman, and all of the others are very friendly and helpful. they are there to serve you. Another strength is the greens. They are kept in excellent condition. The course has a great round to round value. Memberships are also available.

The condition of the fairways is not real impressive. I have seen worse, and they serve their purpose, but they are not real lush. If you play roll in the fairway you'll be fine!!

This course is an old links style course. For the most part it is open with wide fairways. There are few bunkers on the course but there is a lot of water. The water comes into play a lot during the round and it forces you to think about your shots and not just grip it and rip it. The lay out is risk/reward. You can play it save and come out with a par or maby a birdee, or you can take a risk and rewarded. The par five seventh is a perfect example of this. You must drive over a vast expanse of water. If you take a risk and cut off a lot you can easily reach the green in two. If you play it safe and don't cut off much water, it is a three shot hole. I think the layout of southern links is excelent and it is a fun course to play, but the condition is not exactly up to par. The fairway is not real full and you can get some hard lies. It is even worse in the winter because they don't overseed with rye. It's almost like playing in a cow pasture. The greens, on the other hand, are usually very good. They do a good job keeping them green and fast, and they putt very true. They are not extremely hard but it can be tough to hold them sometimes. They are fairly contoured but with a good approach, you wont get any rediculas putt. Overall this is a fun course to play at a great value. If you look past the condition and play the course, you will enjoy your round!!
