Immaculate course. Extremely well manicured, and challenging. One of the nicest in the area.

Our tee time was 6:24 on a Sunday morning. Allowed a single to tee off ahead of our foursome on the first tee, so probably didn't actually tee off until 6:30. Of the 4 of us, my dad and I shoot in the 80's, Im a 12.6 hes probably a 16. We also had my two buddies, one plays better than us, one worse. By hole 5 we were told to "keep up pace" by a ranger, an impossible task given that we were behind only a single, but whatever. It was obvious that the foursome behind us were pissed so we let them play through on the next hole. Got no 'thank you', but whatever. There's now a threesome behind us.

We still made the turn 6 minutes ahead of pace after letting the single and foursome through. On hole 13 the ranger stopped us and told us that they had been getting phone calls and that we again needed to pick up the pace.

Finished 18 in less than 4 hours. We were in the clubhouse at 10:15 to let them see this after they had "been getting calls from the groups behind us."

Management made no effort to apologize, not that it's their fault if people are dicks, but how about a "hey, sorry guys we can see that you couldn't have been that slow if you're in here already."

We were then told, "Well, that foursome you let through is an exception. They play here all the time, and they can go around in 3 hours if no one is holding them up." Followed by "people pay enough to play here, I guess they just don't expect to get held up at all."

Are you kidding me?

We aren't the best four golfers on the course any given day but we aren't f*ucking derelicts either. We know how to hit the ball and I've played with enough different people to know that people like us are the lifeline of golf courses.

To play on a Sunday morning in less than 4 hours and have been harrassed the entire way to hurry up is insane.

F*uck everyone there and the clouds they sit on. It's really a shame that such a nice course could be spoiled by management's disposition.

I honestly feel that they consider people who aren't their regulars to be somehow less valuable to them.

I'll never go back in my life. There are more than enough nice courses in the area where the clientele aren't curing cancer after their Sunday morning rounds and management has the integrity to stand up for who's right in a situation not just who dumps the most money into the register in a year's time.

They could care less. If you don’t like it then just go somewhere else is their attitude. We had a simple problem that could have been resolved by any professional. But rather than trying to resolve anything their attitude is just go away. Greens were less than average for condition.

Conditions, management (they do a good job keeping the course open), and a bunch of great golf holes.

The driving range is in an odd place - all shots are uphill.

This is one of the best kept public golf courses around. Built on the site of an old quary, Greystone features great views, challenging holes and a reasonable pace of play - they don't crowd it. Conditions throughout the year have been superb. Excellent tees, greens, and fairways. There's lot of trouble in the rough where they let the heather grow. It's very reminiscent of an Irish links course. The signature 18th hole is as much fun to watch from the club house after a round as it is to play. It's about 220 downhill to the water and then a 125 yard carry over the water to the double green (it serves 9 and 18). Many holes feature spectacular elevated tees. Five and eight are my favorites. Good for all levels of play, but a good challenge for anyone.

Pace of play, green conditions (sometimes)

A great links-style course. Probably the best public course in the area. Open driving course with difficult, undulating greens. There are several holes on this course that would be considered "black diamond" difficult for PGA Tour stop; namely #4, #7, and #11. Pars are beautiful on these holes, even for a low handicapper. Only drawback is that many players fail to repair their ball marks, so the greens can get chewed up after heavy play. All in all a must play if you're in the Rochester area.
