Played there this morning, first guy out by myself. The course was in the worst shape I've ever seen a course. Ruff hasn't been mowed in weeks, mowed fairways but clumped up grass everywhere, it's been wet but the club house guy told me it's been dry for the last week. I think they just do have enough employees, I paid 40 bucks, I thought it would be much better. I won't play there again.

This is a great course in a subtle sort of way. I've been regularly playing Pebble Creek for ten years, and it's had its ups and downs, but currently (summer 2009) it's in the best shape I've ever seen it in. It's the best course I've played in Tampa.
PROS:
-very interesting layout with water coming into play on basically every hole.
-lots of natural forest/wildlife for being in the middle of a Tampa suburb.
-some homes on the course but most aren't noticeable unlike other courses in the area.
-hard to find a boring hole, lots of greens that slope severely from back to front which makes putting interesting. lots of doglegs and shots that involve carrying water hazards.
-recently renovated bunkers so they aren't as hard as concrete anymore.
-very well-maintained.
-value is great...I pay the twilight rate which is $19, including carts with GPS!
CONS:
-when it rains the course is not fun to play, with soggy greens and compacted bunkers remaining for a day or two.
-it's almost always busy and slow play can result when the group in front of you is getting a 15 on every hole.
-fairways are flat, no undulation or change in elevation within a hole until you get to the green.
SUMMARY:
Play this course if you are looking for a well-maintained course with an interesting layout.
Do not play this course if you are expecting a pristine and picturesque golfing experience.

Shoots in the 80s

i played here for the 1st time in 7 years yesterday and the course has its hits and misses like any other course.
some of the things that bothered me were the greens. there were 6 or 7 greens that were just horrible. one of them wasnt even a green, it was a "dirt". i was literally putting on a dirt surface with no grass whatsoever. the entire green wasnt dirt, just the 12 or so feet that i was putting on.
but there were several greens that were vreally, really nice too. in fact, id say the majority of the holes (60-70%) had very good greens. but there was also several very bad greens.
their bunkers are either great, or they just suck. there was no in betweens. there was a couple bunkers that had brand new, white-as-white-can-be, sugar sand. and then there were a couple bunkers that had some type of extremely hard, brownish black sand in them. and like the guy a couple reviews above me said, someone really could injure themselves trying to hit out of it. it really was like concrete. i just dont get it??? whats up with that Pebble Creek employees???
i liked the layout of the course except for one hole that had 2 huge pine/oak trees smack dab in the middle of the fairway. i personally hate that.
the one cool thing about this course is the GPS system you get in your cart. it makes it so much easier looking at the yardage on the 10 inch LCD screen in your cart instead of trying to find a sprinkler head with yardage on it. and it gives you hints for each hole as you go too. pretty cool.
all in all, i actually would play this course again. if they would just fix those 5 or 6 crappy greens, it would be a really nice place to play. cmon Pebble Creek, whats up???

Customer Service

there was a very friendly, shorter, older gentleman in the pro shop. and as i was walking into the pro shop, i realized i forgot my wallet, and the cart guy noticed and picked me up and drove me out to my car rather than making me walk all the way out there to get my keys...very nice guy

Shoots in the 90s

Very disappointing and poorly setup and maintained. I went to this course with my son in law who's just starting out in golf and if it weren't for the company this would have been the worst golf outting I have ever had. I ended up spraining my wrist trying to hit out of a greenside bunker because of whatever that crap is in them was as hard a concrete. I am a great bunker palyer but whatever they use it's not sand and because it had no give when I waa trying to hit my ball out I injured my wrist, I am not exagerrating they were as hard as concrete. The other problem was 6 of the holes cups were full of water and I'm talking about black, slimmy, stinky water. Two of the greens had some kind of green slimmy gunk on the putting surface. I usually play on cources that are about 10 dollars cheaper and I was really expecting alot more than what I got at this stinker of a golf course.

Customer Service

The guy a the Pro Shop was ajerk and when we told him the price for the Round were cheaper online than what he was quoting he got all devensive and made a complete ass of himself.

A staple of Tampa area golfers, Pebble Creek has nothing to really recommend it, other than its low fees, and decent layout. The course is always crowded (I think they must use a 6-minute stagger!) and a lot of hackers gravitate here. I've played here a few times while filling out a friends's foursome, but wouldn't go out of my play to play here if I was a single, looking to pick up a game.
