Seth Raynor, the architect, has 8 courses listed in Golf Digest's top 100 classical courses. This course is not among them, but according to Raynor's biographer, George Bahto, this is perhaps the least altered of them all. Its undulating fairways and greens, and particularly its approaches to the greens will tell you a lot about the "ground game" fundamental to golf in Scotland and in the U.S. in the early years of the game.

The fairways are not well maintained. Even in good weather, the fairway turf is uneven. In hot weather, the tee boxes are particularly hard and brown. Most summers the greens are in very good shape though decidedly slow.

For any southern New Englander interested in the history golf course architecture, this sporting 9-hole course is worth a trip.

Overall this course is one of the worst maintained and worst designed courses i''ve ever seen. The 9th hole must be the dumbest hole ever invented: a par five with out of bounds and water every where you look.

This course is fairly easy, but it has it's unfair holes. The first for example, is a par 4, but the hole play like a par five. The fairway is completly slanted, so even if you hit a perfect drive, the chances it will roll off into the rough are very high. The 9th hole is very similar. A great shot can easily roll into a pond that is right along the fairway. The course is in fairly poor shape, and the greens are very bad. The tee boxes are poor as well.
