Shoots in the 80s
If you are a once in a while player or someone who justs likes to wack the ball around this course will suit you. If you serious about playing at all stay away from this course. I played the "chaug" last spring (07) when new management just took over. Prior to this I had played the course a few times and felt it was a cow pasture (divots everywhere, including the greens!). Management in 07 was fabulous, fellow in the pro shop (don't know if it was the pro) was on the course monitoring play and boy what a joy to move along on a course like this. Greenskeeper was always visible and ready to take care of any on course problems. When I played this past September I felt like the new pro thought he was Phil Mickelson, very arrogant and into himself. No course personnel could be found on the course. Kids were riding their bikes on the fairways, divots were back again and play was horrible even in the fall. Very unhappy. Felt this course was heading in a new direction but my latest experience shows different. Understand that MDM Golf out of Hamden is the new management team and that they are the largest golf management company in Connecticut. If Minnechaug is any indication how they run a course I'd stay away from any course associated with them. Customer Service None, pro was rude and inconvenienced by my group being there (our impression). Similar Products Used: Timberlin, Manchester CC, Tallwood |

There are a couple of nice holes here, 4 and 8 to be exact. the rest of the course is a rehash of old tee boxes and greens left over after McMansions were built on the old course. the old course was great, it had some of the best greens around. As I said the rest of the course is not great, it is shoehorned into the neighborhood esp 2, 3, and 7. Overall it's a nice course to take your wife or kids, but if you're a golfer keep driving and Manchester CC is right down the road. (I am not a member of Manchester, no affiliation at all, it's just a better course in my opinion) Customer Service It's fine, there is no pro shop, they take your money and point you to the tee. Similar Products Used: there are two courses along 91 that are like this one is in Wallingford and the other is in Rocky Hill I forget the names of them but they are both 9 holes tracks jammed into neighborhoods. If that's your thing great, I prefer not seeing houses EVER on a golf course unless it's a club house. |

Minnechaug is absolutely stunning. I got my first birdie here on th ninth hole. The eighth hole is the one you remember. It's a short par 3 with an island green. Just don't go long-- I put a Titleist in the some guy's trailer as he drove by. It seems to rain every time I go there, but the beauty of the course makes me forget the weather. Only problem: it's about a quarter mile walk from hole 7 to hole 8. If you get lost inbetween the two holes you can ask one of the people who live on the street you have to walk down to get to hole 8. Customer Service Great. |

This course is one of the best kept courses I have played at. The tee boxes are all divot and dirt free, the fairways are green and divot free, and the greens are smooth and have no dry areas. The concept of this course is having beautiful houses lining the fairways. This makes for an enjoyable round of golf and a great side show. The par threes at this course are not too challenging and the par fives are fairly difficult. The fairways are usually narrow with the few exceptions and the greens are usually fast. Customer Service Customer service was very good and it was quite easy to get a resonable tee time during the day. Similar Products Used: The pro shop at this course was very small with only balls for sale. |
