Overall, I was impressed by the course. Great variety, memorable holes, plenty of opportunity to let the driver loose. The course is mostly right in front of you.

Played on 8/13/2010 - a disappointment! While it's a great layout, the tee and green conditioning was terrible! Tees all gouged up - YO! ever hear of moving the markers once in a while? And the greens need work too - covered with unrepaired ball scars and needed rolling badly. A shame because a little attention from the greenskeeper could make this a superior - rather than average experience.
Customer Service Excellent - attentive but not overbearing. Similar Products Used: Great River, Wintonbury, and Gillette Ridge are all better cared for - good challenges and a fraction of the cost. |

Played on 8/13/2010 - grossly overrated!
Customer Service First class - attentive without being overbearing. Similar Products Used: Wintonbury Hills, Gillette Ridge, and even Timberlin are superior in conditioning and present as challenging and enjoyable experience at much more reasonable cost. |

Fox Hopyard has a beautiful layout that uses the natural Connecticut woods wonderfully. Knowing you distances is a must in order to deal with the many forced carries and doglegs on the course. Tee boxes here are in better shape than most public courses greens and the fairways and rough are carefully manicured. The greens are very fast and roll true. Unfortunately they were not in the best condition the day that I played. I found out later that they had had several scrambles in the days before I had played and the greens had been hit pretty hard. This normally would not bother me but when you pay $150 dollars to play a course you want everything to be perfect. I was also shocked to find that not only is there an extra charge to use the driving range you are also charged for a yardage book. All in all the beauty of the course wins out over the smaller issues; this is a course that everyone should play at least once. Players are also treated to one of the most amazing finishing holes around. Customer Service Beautiful clubhouse and proshop with service to match. Similar Products Used: Lake of Isles |

One of the top 3 public courses in the state. Remote location, but worth the drive. Golf course has challenging risk/reward holes, and hitting your clubs exact distances is critical. There are a number of carries over hazards and beginners will be frustrated (and lose a lot of balls.) But its a great challeng for a better player. Facilities and restaurant are also georgeous. Elite level public course, a little pricey but you can find deals on the Internet. 70.7/124 from the whites. Similar Products Used: Crumpin-Fox; Harbortown (SC) |
