Shoots in the 80s
I really enjoy this tough prairie-links track. Course is always in exceptional condition and usually plays hard and fast. Bunkering (especially on the first 5 holes) is very difficult. Greens are fast and true and the signature Nicklaus collection areas act to make them play even smaller and more difficult. Wind is almost always a factor - especially on the front 9. Most holes can be played in a number of different ways and the course forces players to use every club in the bag. Nice mix of very difficult and manageable holes keep guests from feeling like the course is killing them - although the back (gold) tees (73/145) are a challenge for any player. Range and practice facilities are great (especially the three-hole practice course). Players unfamiliar with the course should be sure to practice a few putts out of the collection area on the practice green in front of the clubhouse before starting their round. Customer Service Staff is attentive without being overbearing or stuffy. Only food service is a grill - which fits with a club that is ONLY about golf. A nice Nicklaus designed course. Links style, with few trees. Challenging layout with water on several holes. My favorite of the private courses I've played in the Denver area. Many holes require carry from the teebox. You can lose a lot of balls if you're not hitting the ball straight. The conditions are usually pretty good. The greens are well guarded with lots of bunkers and swales. Hole 7 and hole 15 give me the most trouble. The wind can be treacherous out there. Otherwise, a pretty fair course. The practice area is good. They have 3 practice holes which is nice. |
